Probably want to skip iOS11

I “upgraded” my iPad to iOS 11. Bad idea...
The thing is now hardly usable. The two main problems: the tablet is slow as molasses and the keyboard has a life of its own. It locks or types random keys.
Apparently I am not the only one with issues so I suggest you wait for a couple rounds of fixes before upgrading.
I had no particular issue with iOS 10, aside from the spell checker and general keyboard functionality that is well behind the Android keyboard but since I have virtually no data on the tablet, I thought it’s no big deal if I have to completely lobotomise it. But it turns out that I have a number of apps installed and ever all emails coo7nts (that should have been “several email accounts”, thanks new keyboard and spell check) so I have not pulled the plug yet.
Anyhow, if you have an Apple device that yo7 rely on, do not rush to upgrade.

Correction: it’s an iPad mini 2nd generation I believe
Correction 2: the main issue with the iOS keyboard compared to Android is deffective multiple language support. I routinely write French and English and that is not well handled at all 9n iOS devices.

Could it be because your iPad is older? I know when updating my gfs iPad vs my newer apple devices her device is always slow and glitchy

COUld very well be. See an 3xample in this post. The first word had the first 3 letters capitalized because even though 8 am a 1 finger typist, I am apparently still too fast for the mach8ne. Then the new keyboard interprets a sliding motion on the keyboard as the secondary function (numeric keypad for the top row) so now many words have numbers in them and the autocorrect does not catch it.

I am seriously c9nsidering downgrading, this is just ridiculous.

PS: this machine has the first generation 64 bit chip, so I would have thought it could handle iOS 11

A few of my Apps on my iPhone 6+ lock up on the new IOS....its shit. Same old story with Apple. New phone and IOS comes out and people with 2 Gen back get screwed with wonky software and battery killing software. I'm about over Apple's bullshit.

I still rather apples products over the competition. I have not once had a crash or data loss since my first one in 2010 vs all my friends with their other phones with all the fancy features. But I do not usually download the first update or buy the newest version phone.

Just like anything else there are always bugs on first rollout products.

Never download in install dot 0 (zero) is my rule of thumb.

The joys of the service provider deciding what version of the OS you can run.

imho you will eventually see a lawsuit with apple. I think their software is designed to slow older devices on purpose.

If I've installed barely and apps and my device has remained relatively unchanged since purchase, why would it now be slow as piss doing simple tasks? (like browsing the internet) it was quick as hell when I purchased it, barely anything has been added to it, yet it's been software updated 5 times, and each time it's gotten slower. why?

as for the newest update, everyone I know that has updated their devices HATE it. I'll hold off. I can't take another level of slowness right now...

That would be incredible if true. Is there any evidence to support this? Or is it just a case of older models can't handle the new code as well?

CPUs aren't as fast. More features are added etc.

IMO If they were doing this on purpose it couldn't remain a secret for long.

It's a Google phone so, no, that isn't the issue. Likely they found an issue impacting that model and slowed/halted the rollout for that model only.
