Tioga Road East

In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful spots in the country. It's also mostly free of the idiots in Yosemite valley.

It is gorgeous, but can be heavily patrolled, and the speed limits in the park are really low.

AND LOOK FOR BEARS!!!!

If you like 120, hope you tried 108. That's my all time favorite Sierra Road.

Yeah, 15mph in some places in the park and always a ranger with a radar gun nearby. On the other hand, people blow by the "Don't speed and kill our bears" signs with reckless abandon, so I get it.

Sonora Pass is also my favorite. Visually indescribable and cool history

Pretty stuff. I love all the high Cali passes but 108 is probably my favorite as well.

Once I was running Tioga west hawte. Whip out to pass slow moving cage. WOT, get along side, then Soccer Mom decides to put the Dodge Caravan hammer down... the DRZ's 30-something horsepower of madness with luggage and altitude were no match

But it got me over all the three highest paved and best passes on that trip.

Coming up 108 there's a section where it's like a moonscape. Great stuff. And I recognize that summit pic well.

That's funny. Have you ever hiked over to that waterfall at the summit? I keep telling myself I am but never do. I bet it is flowing like crazy this year.

Thanks! Yeah, I know exactly where you are talking about. I stop in that little valley every time. It's the best part of 108, I think. I have a video of it somewhere. I'll post up when I get a chance.

I haven't and you're probably right. The DRZ trip through there was June 2007

Yep, if I remember correctly that is the first couple of real twisties heading east.

Here's a short 3+ minute video that ends right before the summit. I think it is the section you were talking about. It's from 2015. Very happy about the rain out there. It probably saved millions of trees.

It's in 1080P on youtube

This is part of 108 yesterday.

Tioga pass. They say it may not open till July. That tractor looks tiny! They said there are 50' drifts in places.

I've taken pics from here on two different trips. I climbed up higher for mine though.

Tioga and Ebbetts finally opened last week, June 29. Latest opening for Ebbetts ever.

I sure am tempted to ride over there. The Merced river is awesome when there is record snow melt. I bet there are waterfalls everywhere...

I was just looking through some of our photos from our trip out west in 2007 and see where I took a photo of the Ellery Lake sign on Tioga Pass / Hwy 120 on June 26, 2007. We were travelling from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe in my pickup at that point in our travels.
