Kept looking down into the creek...

They will eat fish, but it's unusual. I have found them creek side before, drinking.

Was down in the Rio Grande Valley over Labor Day weekend, so we decided to visit South Padre Island. Headed north on Park Road 100 until the road was no more.

We thought a Labor Day Saturday would be jammed, but it really wasn't too bad.

We watched some 4-wheelin' ...

..and some 4-legin' ...

.. and checking out the permanent residents ...

Nice place!

Finding this bird seemed appropriate today. Just ahead of the wet and cold that came blowing in.

Also, did you know that a group of Turkey Vultures flying is called a "kettle" but if they are dining on road kill in a group, it's a "wake?"

How much did you pay the kid?

It's been a crazy year for grasshoppers. Wyoming BLM and ranchers spent $500K trying to get them to clear out of a few areas.

I love them praying mantis! I've seen more this year than the past five years combined. I've even caught a few. Funny though, most of the ones I caught or seen have been brown and not green.

My grandson actually loved it. Mid way through September and I haven't seen any snakes. Tons of turkey, coyotes and fox though.
