NASCAR channel rant, NO Spoiler...

I got to say, I didn't think it's coverage could get any worse BUT I was wrong. It's bad enough to have lifeless, boring commentating (like Scott Russell and whoever the other lame guy is) but to be totally inaccurate is unexcuseable. On the second to the last lap of qualifying, ##### took the pole from #####. On the last lap of qualifying, BOTH commentators said the same guy (that just took pole on the lap before) MIGHT be able to gain pole. WTF? Combine that with stories of his heyday (Russell when WSBK raced there), Schwantz (sp?) and Gardner's heyday while live qualifying took place, again, WTF? Cover the action of people qualifying and leave the other bs to the History channel. This while covering exciting crashes of the 9th, 11th and finally the 2nd place qualifiers, all the while 2 non front row qualifiers were moving up in qualifying... No footage of exciting people qualifing. I guess I am spoiled with torrents of live qualifying that actually shows that, has jaded me. Not to mention it was suppose to be a live 90 minute segment that ended at 60 minutes (could of showed Moto 2 and Moto 3 qualifying previews). I'll keep Speed for the rest of this season but go to the Moto GP website next season.
Fracking 's. Rant over.

Not to bust your bubble but Moto2 and 3 don't run at Laguna...

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the announcing. I decided years ago that it was well worth it to me to be a full subscriber to motogp.com. I enjoy this more than superbowl, world series, or any other stick and ball sport. I'm able to watch practice, quals, and all races live, with the awesome commentary provided by the British announcers.

You haven't burst my bubble. I guess it was better they cut the coverage than see AMA Superbike Q'ing or Daytona Superbike Q'ing. Which I think CBS Sports Spectacular airs. This leaves 24 hours of NASCAR speculation or car auctions...
Oh well.

Just watched the race highlights and the Marquez overtake.

That dude has some serious stones. Wow.

I thought he'd have blown it by now with a couple of bad crashes. Yeah, he's gone down but is still up and man, can he ride.

Like Falcon said last year - "move over, winner coming through"

So true.

I think he's backed off a little since he's up in the championship, and realizes he has a shot at it.

The pass on Rossi was great!

Good stuff!

That pass on Rossi was like... "Yeah... I can pass you like you passed Stoner"

Anyone see that slow motion footage in moto2 8 laps to go. Redding followed by Luthi and Nakagami sliding sideways into turn one. Just awesome! And another great race!

Fantastic race! Considering Marquez dislocated his shoulder only hours before the race, amazing ride from the kid.

Spectacular (lucky!) corner crash that almost took out the marshals and Crutchlow when Marquez lost it on oil in the same corner during todays warmup..

That was killer.

Last 3 laps of gp were also very entertaining. Props to Marquez for riding so well with an injury. I bet that hurt a lot.

And I liked how Lorenzo saved it for the last. The guy is sharp; knows how to pace himself yet still stay in front.

Moto GP is generally very boring with somebody running away with it most of the time. That was undoubtedly the most exciting race I've seen from the series! The last three laps was incredible!

So, what about Aragon?

(REMEMBER THIS IS A SPOILER THREAD!!!)

I watched Pedroza's crash many times in slow motion, and wondered why he left such a long strip of rubber. Just read his comments, makes perfect sense. Marquez shoulders some of the blame, and I'm sure there's a little ill-will, but he did manage to keep Lorenzo behind him. I miss the way he rode at the start of the year, but there was no way he was going to finish consistently riding that way. It's just amazing how fast he is even with it "turned down" a notch. What a season!

Pedrosa was looking good to close on Lorenzo up until the crash. Could he have held off Marquez? I don't know ... however, Pedrosa's luck has been appalling again this year. Of course, those who still harbour a grudge dating back to 2006 will call it kharma, but really, the guy deserves at least some breaks - and I don't mean bones

The contact severed the wire for the rear wheel speed sensor, hence loss of TC for Pedrosa. Crappy luck, but that's racing...arguably Marquez fault, but the contact itself was relatively minor and if not for the damage, Pedrosa most certainly wouldn't have crashed. Good to see VR podium, albeit way back of 2nd.
