Running from the law - two-up

So this happened in Finland. What should have been a simple traffic stop of a speeding cycle turns into a crazy 20-minute high speed chase. Luckily nobody got hurt. The escape artist, who was on meth at the time, got all of 21 months behind bars for this and various other crimes.

Sorry, this is the only link I could find.

They both did well not to bin their bikes a few times.

I have no idea how the perp didn't die. Yikes. Good riding skills - all wasted.

Watching this while holding my tablet, I find myself "leaning" through turns. Great video and glad no one got hurt.

Mrs grommet disagrees, but if I was the cop, as soon as I saw the riding skill and determination of the runner, I would have given it up. No traffic infraction or vehicle issue is worth the risk that cop put his own life in. To me. Guess I'd make a lousy moto cop.

I'm with you on that one. Wide tire on a cruiser, and the cop still had trouble keeping up. I'd have backed off, for sure.

I thought I heard "potato potato" a few times in the video.

I've known of 2 different Leo's die in the line of duty when they crashed their cars. One while in pursuit and another while responding to a call and going to fast on an exit ramp.

When made public, this video raised the questions and concerns expressed here on when it's appropriate to pursue and when to let go. The local police force doesn't have aerial support readily available so, I think, this police officer was the only one to guide the car patrols to the speeding nutcase's location and direction. Had the officer stopped pursuing, the rider could have had a chance to just slow down, take a couple of turns, and blend in with traffic. Then again, we can argue that the dangerous riding was actually caused by being pursued. Anyway, he finally turned on to the farm road because the road was blocked up ahead, which I assume was due to direction given by the pursuing officer.

Over the years ive known some really good riders who rode like that alot... they are all dead. Oh, except for two, one spent 15 years in prison for killing someone in a "accident" and the other has one arm now and barley made it out alive of his "accident". This idiot doesnt deserve to even ride a moped. Let him take the bus. I mean there is a time and place for riding like that..or running for that matter. going fast is alotta fun and all but damn, like that in traffic....eventually he go splatt, lol.

Yup, the runner is a dangerous d1ck, just by his meth habit alone, with no place on public roads.

It's more fun to chase than to look up the address of the plate in the DMV database, show up there with a posse, and wait for the dick to come home.

Probably better to break it off but running the plate doesn't always get you the rider. Had a guy here that crashed a GSXR while running from the cops, he took off on foot into a field and got away. Cops show up at the house of the registered owner, who was shocked because his bike was in for service at the big dealership here that has bought up all the small good dealers. The rider was a mechanic at the dealer who would joy ride on customers bikes.
I never have liked that dealer, and that certainly didn't make me like them anymore.

Appears Meth and massive amounts of Adrenaline have very similar effects. Ya as mentioned after a few minutes let the guy go. Very intense video....no thank you!
