Robo Call blocker for Cell Phones

Putting this under Computers and Tech being as I'm not sure where to put it.

Does anyone have any experience with Robo Call blocker apps? Specifically Nomorobo?

My number is on the do not call registry but I'm still getting 4 or 5 calls a day.

I’ve tried several, none of them worked. Also subscribed.

One option is to only answer calls from known contacts. Robos rarely leave voicemail. Someone that really needs to get me will.

I've tried several. For the most part, they don't work. Well, they might, but I am still getting several per day. Like Got says, the only "solution" is to ignore them.

The problem is with "spoofed" numbers. The blockers can't block those because they are often legit numbers.

In looking at my ATT "Call Protect" app says the following

458 calls
80 flagged
29 blocked.

So, there ya go. Of those 458 incoming calls probably 20 were legit. (I almost never get incoming calls)

If you have android, calls blacklist is the best one I've used, and currently use.

With the recent local number spoofing, I wonder if these people are simply looking at the do not call registry for target numbers.

Odds are, if you are on the list, they know it’s a valid number.

I've had the same number for nearly 20 years now. I can't remember if I ever registered it with the DNC list, but not in any recent memory.

I use the don't answer method and I only get a couple of robocalls per week. If that. I've blocked a few numbers over the past couple of years but my block list is less than 20 numbers at the moment.

I have no idea how this works or how I've avoided getting so many. A guy I work with was getting about 20 calls a day from Rachel with card services. There has to be a movie script about someone who loses it and hunts down the actual person responsible for Rachel and sends them to telemarketer hell.

Dudes. It’s robocallers spoofing numbers. They don’t care about the DNCL and there’s no special listing that will help. The spoofed numbers are legit. They won’t be on a special black list you can use to prevent them.

No.

Like Got said, I just don't answer any call not from someone in my contact list. They will leave a message if they need you, no problem. I have had one robo caller leave a message, and I may have blocked that one. Don't remember. I do keep backups of my contact list using a free app, just in case.

That's exactly how it works - don't answer. That's what I do, or I hang up without answering. I get very few robocalls.

My wife, who can't stand to not answer a ringing phone, gets a bunch.

Maybe I've hung up on them enough times without letting it go to voicemail, which is the ATT computer lady, or maybe I've just been lucky. Have the same number since 2005 or so.

I get less than 1/week.

.. because the faked numbers are just completely random and there's no way to list them.

I simply don't answer unless it's a known contact. End of story.

Yea, I signed up for nomorobo on my land line. Doesn't work. Still get lots of spam and robo calls. They start at 8:45 AM. With caller ID I don't answer a caller I don't know but they don't give up either.

My cell number has never been on a do not call list. I only used it for a few store discount lists, mostly use a defunct landline. But still I get lots of spoofed number calls.
