fyi...... there's a new version of ad-aware out (v1.06) as well as spybot (v1.4). both new versions offer some nice little improvements.

just making sure that anyone perusing this thread is aware of the nifty new "google earth" program.

http://earth.google.com/

plus it serves as a way to *bump* the thread.

Google desktop

Google desktop search http://desktop.google.com/ is great because it indexes your entire hard disk as well as your email and you can do instantaneous searches for any text. It is many many times faster than the Windows search.

Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...photo/raw.mspx

"The Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer enhances the Windows XP photos experience by providing thumbnails, previews, printing, and metadata display for RAW images from most Canon and Nikon digital cameras. This tool enables advanced digital photographers to organize and work with RAW files directly in Windows Explorer in much the same way as with JPEG images. No more "guessing" which image is which!"

I like PGP (Pretty Good Privacy). It encrypts files simply and quickly plus it makes self executing files. That means you can encrypt a file(s), type in password and send the file to your bud's. Give your bud's the password and they can decrypt the files without having the program installed.
Go to http://www.pgpi.org/ to get the lastest free version.

microsoft antispyware has a new update out that extends it's expiration date to july 31, 2006.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx

and according to the folks here.....

http://blogs.technet.com/antimalware/

the 11/17/05 update for ms antispyware is able to detect and remove the rootkits that sony has been installing when users try to listen to their music cd's on the computer.

google's got another software package out.... "google pack"

http://pack.google.com/

it includes a variety of programs (google earth, picasa, google desktop, google toolbar, a screensaver, ad-aware, google talk, etc) as well as the "google update" program which appears to help you keep up to date with the latest rev on the google software.
