You should start getting quotes on head stones and leave them on his desk. He may very well need them soon (well, only 100 miles....maybe you could wait until next year).

He'll need his 70MPH+ helmet for that, won't he?

Silver,

What do you think is going got happen? He is going to "open that bad boy up" and then . . .

Do you think he will actually do it?

If it scares the hell out of him, will he sell it?

Is he a tough guy? Is he going to raise hell on the street and embarrass the general rider population?

Will he push it till he crashes?

Just curious where he will end up.

Only if he shifts it in to second gear. It sounds like there are only two possible outcomes to him truely winding it out:

1) XXX will scare himself shitless once the thing comes up to full song in first gear and he will just park it.

or

2) He'll loop it right away when it does a major power wheelie.

I suppose that both will happen and he'll be calling his insurance agent (both medical and vehicle).

Of course NONE of this will be his fault and he will have a lenghty explination as to why.

How am I doing???

You guys might be on to something.

I'm guessing he is going to be talking about how he gave it the throttle and how it turns out it's not that big a deal. Then we will hear how he blows things away with that "bad boy" when he's been out for a ride. I think he's going to start having new stories to tell. Can't wait to hear some of them.

And he will tell the story of how he pulled up next to a Ford Escort and "whined it out", but they wouldn't race because they "didn't want any of this".

You're kidding? You are worried him finding out? After all these pretty specific stories? If he saw this thread, even he could figure it out.... Well maybe ....

It's not that hard. Bring a camera to work. Leave it there. If he shows up "In costume" you watch him toward the end of the day. When he "suits up" you walk outside, snap a pic and tell him whatever. Don't ask him. Just pull out the camera and ...badda bing... he's a star... . Tell him one of the top motorcycle mags has a "cool pic" contest...whatever.

Not quite worthless, but a picture IS long overdue...

IF he ever actually uses full throttle, I have a prediction. Right around 9500 rpm, he will pee down his leg.

I predict XXX will open the throttle, get scared, crash the bike, then complain that the guys at the dealer that assembled the bike did something wrong that caused the crash and try to sue them for it. Oh, and I'm sure he won't get a scratch. Heck, a judge might award him big cash, then maybe he'll just move to Tahiti and be done with it. SILVER, THIS COULD BE YOUR TICKET OUT!!!!!!!

I'm still not sure I believe he will really do it. And if he does, he might develop a speech impediment. He might be greatly humbled. It could be a turning point in his life.

Well, maybe.

Maybe it's me. When I bought my FZ1, I couldn't wait to get the 600 miles to the first oil change. Then to 1000 miles so I could quit babying her. And I've never seen XXX seems reluctant. He rode 30 miles this weekend. In 2 days. He now has 960 miles in about 3 months. I rode 1300+ miles in 3 days (August 4th, 5th & 6th). I wonder what is going to happen when he gets to 1000 miles, too. I figure either it's all hype and nothing will happen or he is the next coming of Rossi or he scares the bejeesus out of himself and takes up knitting. He scoots back and forth to work. As near as I can tell, that's about it. He lives up in my neck of the woods and that is boring.

I think you might want to try this silver03. Feed his ego. He'll fall for it hook, line and sinker. He's too into himself not to.
When the pic never shows up in the mags, just tell him it must not have been good enough. Then take some more.
Just food for thought.

Guys -

Stop beating him up over the picture. He has already said he doesn't feel comfortable, and it would be awful if he loses his job because he posted a picture (so far no one could prove it's him, but if he takes a picture there is no doubt).

I wouldn't do it if I were you, Silver 03. From what you have described, you have a good thing going, and it's just not worth it to jeopardize that. maybe if you leave them it would be worth a parting shot (pun intended).

This is true. And we (well, I) really don't need a pic now. The story is certainly good enough even without a pic.

However, it would be a good idea to start collecting those pics now and save them for a time that is safe to post them.

Silver, thanks again for the story ! ! ! It's a good one
