I'd heard the name(I have no idea why), but that's the extent of my familiarity. Ridiculously enharmonic, but totally worth it for the novelty & especially for the innovative monster chops bass solo at ~9:00. Makes me want to hear a collaboration with Cory Henry. I think you've got the award locked up for posting "Furthest Outside".

He really does have monster chops, and an inventive approach to bass, to say the least.

While searching for more "T. Cat" tunes to check out(I was kinda dig'n their "Drunk" album), I saw they released a cut called "Them Changes" which reminded me of the Buddy Miles tune. Here's a cover by Clapton & Winwood. Holds up pretty well I thought... or maybe it's just musical PTSD after listening to the Cat...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAMVyBCHvU4

Talk about an all star band! Shit! Charnett Moffett, Tain Watts, Stanley Jordan, Pharoah!

A friend of mine, he was a member here, went to see Moffett with Pharoah Sanders at Blues Alley. I don’t think he liked it as much as I would have. That was a couple of years ago. He said that Moffett didn’t play any double bass. ???

He probably wouldn't have appreciated the difference anyway ;)

I thought I'd posted this already, but I looked & couldn't find it, so.. along similar lines as your recent post, here's one of my favs, from another bassist I like a lot. Sadly, he died fairly recently, so for me the wistfulness of this tune is especially fitting.

Running Win XP, some recent utube links(all 3 of the above for eg.) are now unreadable. While a pita, copying the titles in posts would allow searching for playable content.

Thanks for the links - much appreciated. In that Metheny/Haden tune I posted, I especially admired and enjoyed the seamless but odd key change FWIW.

I remember when that CD was released. It's probably my most-played CD.

The modulation is unusual, and it's from the original.
