Sorry to cut across, but that's a Scottoiler for lubing the chain...mounted in an unusual position! At least it's vertical there, so best for oil flow.

Ron, are there no updates regarding this enlarged tank project?

I wish! Life has intruded in a big way between work and some personal things. I haven't forgotten the project. Expect to focus on it this once riding season is finished.

Best,
Ron

It’s not much of an update but it is an update nonetheless. I’ve taken the tank around to several shops in the area over the past few days and am assessing who might do quality work. I’ve also had some conversation with Dean D here on the board. Dean is betwixt and between on work space right now but that is probably only a short hiatus for him so we will keep talking. So, I’ve moved into the serious assessment phase to determine how and with whom I’ll push this forward to completion.

I’ll continue to post as I get more info and a clearer picture of where I go from here.

Best/More to follow,
Ron

Hey Ron:

Yep, don't have a good place to paint, right now. Did do some painting outdoors a few months ago, but that was when the weather was warmer. Just too cold, even here in central Ca., for any painting, at the present time.

I am still house sitting in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, Ca. That is where i keep all of my paint supplies, for the present time, at this pals garage.

I found the paint that i use for the Deep Purplish Blue color. It is made by "The Matrix System" paint company. Color code #RSB-191503N. It is a fleet base coat color, and is just about a perfect color match, to D.P.B. Been using this fleet code paint for years. Comparing it to o.e.m. paint on pieces, and i have done that, one really cannot tell any difference between the two colors! Its that close.

One hopes at some point, i can obtain a place to paint again, as i would like to get back to painting, FZ1 gas tanks.

Okay, that is about it for now.

Dean

While I'm thinking about it, does anyone have a couple of the gas tank frame rubber mounts they might be willing to part with?? I'm thinking to add extra for extra support.

Best,
Ron

Update for the group. The tank project is moving forward. I found someone that I think will do a great job and the tank is been dropped off. I didn’t push this as a rush job. I’ll provide updates over the next month or so as the project moves forward. Looking forward to getting the tank completed.

Best
Ron

Not much of a progress report but dents have been pulled and welds smoothed over. Tank will be coated in the next couple of days. Including a pic from early in the dent pulling process.

Best,
Ron

I'd share them if I had them! Not much to show at this point. He smoothed over the welds and coated the inside of the tank. Glass work starts probably tomorrow. I expect more meaningful pictures then.

Best,
Ron
