Welcome FZ6 Owners!

We are pleased to welcome owners of the Yamaha FZ6 to our message board. While we do remain predominantly an FZ1 board, FZ6 owners are welcome to interact with the membership in all of our forums. We do ask however that FZ6 specific issues be posted only here in this forum.

Thank You!

Pat

Cool woot woot

As of about 11:30 last night, I am a proud FZ6 owner. The FZ1 was the bike that got me here, but being a manic Mainer, and wanting to ride when it's 25 degrees out, I just couldn't justify getting a carbureted bike. And the New FZ1...well...maybe if I win the lottery sometime. So I began looking at FZ6s. I was going to try and nab a blue '04 on EBay, a beaut out of New Hampshire with 5k miles that went for a seemingly criminal $3,850. SOMEbody has gotta be a happy new owner. But a day before the auction ended I saw a silver one locally. 2,081 miles and in showroom condition. What a beautiful bike, it feels punchier than I had thought, and in the higher ranges, it feels like it wants to take flight. I got an awesome deal on it too, I'm so excited. I was sold the minute I looked at it. Comfort, power, cruising range, looks, forget it, I couldn't be happier with a bike, especially given the good deal I got on the works.

Anyway, I'll do a little "cyberstalking" on the new FZ6 owner out of NH, and try to scare 'em this way. Thanks a lot for having such an awesome board, glad to be a part of the team.

Hey Weazel, congrats on the new bike. It's ok to admit though that you're just scared of the FZ1, you don't need to blame it on temps and carbs.

I've ridden mine down as low as 23...and yeah, its a little cranky about starting up, but it is fine.

BTW, I'm from Camden Maine up the road from you originally. Great riding up there in the mid coast area- especially some of the roads out on the penisulas. I was road biking around Popham Beach this summer- great roads. Wished I had the FZ1 there too.

Hi Brian, welcome to the board! I'm not too far from ya (Fort Wayne), there's a large contingent of Hoosiers who ride fizzies, mostly down south. Check out the Meetings, Events, Ride Reports, & Photos thread and then click on Indiana Rides. Maybe we'll all get together sometime and talk about hoosierly things. Anyhow, when it warms up, pm me, we'll go for a ride. Have fun on the 6!

Denny,

Thanks, and will do. I try to do quite a bit of riding in Brown County myself.

Price_new FZ6

Hello FZ6 owners,
I moved to USA from Europe about 6 months ago. I am planning to buy a FZ6.
I wonder about the acceptable price for a brand new bike.
I live in San Francisco and just checked the prices by different dealers.
It seems to be normal here to pay MSRP (6799,-) + 1.5/2k fees for a FZ6 .

What do you think about it? How much have you paid?
What is the usual negotiation strategy here in US?
By the way: I like the naked version better, unfortunately it is not available here.

FZ6 prices..

Artur,

I just sealed a deal for my dad on a new '06 red FZ6 for $6250.00 out the door. (tax, tags, title, registration, set up, freight) you know the deal... So, no, MSRP is not acceptable. You may use this for a starting point, but expect to pay around $6500.00 depending on local tax and dmv costs. Also, just to keep in mind, the dealers payed the same for the 06's as thay do for the 05's, and there are no factory incentives to sell the 05's. so what ever you can get an '05 for you can get an '06 for.

Thanks WRAITH1027!

I like the price you paid very well. Congratulations.
I didn’t know that it was possible to negotiate the total price down to that level.
Cross you fingers; I will do my best!

I purchased 2004 production number 200 in July of 04. It's been a wonderful bike for the last 10,000 miles and I am still waiting to see another on the road.

Geez...$6200.00 out the door....Sweet! I justed bought my 06 for $6500.00 out the door and I had to beat em up pretty good to get there. You should NEVER pay MSRP for a bike unless it is a very limited availability machine....

Best price I have seen is $6k plus tax - no other fees. If you are from out of state you just have to worry about paying your tax when you register it.

I bought my 2005 FZ6 in January, a couple months before the new 2006s. I paid $6150 out the door, including everything except tax. Dealer told me that the new model year bikes wouldn't sell lower than MSRP until the buying slows down in the fall. I think that's a crock considering they don't sell many FZ6s - they just aren't that popular. That's just fine with me, I like being unique. (see the popularity thread) I think I got an ok deal, considering the dealer cost is about 5600. I love my new bike, but don't let them know you're that interested. Best to play hardball with those dealers...

Hi Gang

I just bought a brand new (2 miles on it) blue FZ6.
I paid 6300.00 out the door in California with it's socialisticly high tax burden. (is that a word?)

It has all the power I need.
It's faster than a Viper or a Ford GT. It makes 11.3 seconds in the quarter and is less than a second slower than a "Busa". Who cares?

It's fast enough for me, looks great, rides smooth and gets great gas mileage.

I'm very happy, in fact I went to the dentist yesterday and was having so much fun riding that I BLEW RIGHT BY MY TURNOFF!

A new guy

Bill
