Brings back some memories of being at Laguna Seca Race Track, about fifteen years ago, during the week.

Went there to see old pal Jewel Hendricks, run his go cart there on the track. Just happened to be the day that Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey were there, also. Jewel is close friends with both of these guys.

That was the first day that Wayne had gotten on a race track, since his horrible injury in 1993. He had a cart set up for him with only hand controls, just like the bike in the post here. After about two laps, he was right on Lawson's back tires! He is still a champion.

Very cool to see him on two wheels. Thanks for the video.

26 years. Fvck.

i still remember getting the news about his crash and injury. Maybe via cycle news a week later? It seemed to be impossible. Rainey never screwed up.

And when we all finally saw the video of the crash it was more WTF? Seemed so uneventful.

The Schwantz vs Rainey battle back then was possibly the greatest of all time.

Really glad Wayne got to do this. After he got the 1st familiarization session out of the way, it appeared he was riding at a good clip.

He is going to do it again at Suzuka. That is awesome! Wayne is such a cool cat. The man looks great too.

I wish they would have posted some lap times. I bet he's still faster than most.

In the brief time I chatted with him when he was watching from the fence at Motoamerica during the Road Atlanta race two years ago he seemed a cool and approachable guy. Glad to see he was still excited, I wonder if we’ll see him making laps next year on a bike.
