Raising the fz6r for service
How do you guys raise the fz6r (2009) on stands? I need to replace a fork seal on my buddy's fz6r and there's no holes for spools on the rear.
So far I'm thinking of backing it onto the lift, clamping the rear wheel and then using a floor jack to raise the front up.

You can buy rear stand attachments that will lift a rear swing arm like they have without spools. Or attach straps to either end of the bars and loop them around a beam in the ceiling to lift the front up, which is what I usually have seen done.

Is the axle on the FZ6R hollow? As long as you don't have to remove the rear wheel, you can use a bit of steel rod from Home Depot and stick it through the axle and use your regular rear stand.

That's brilliant, thanks Havagan, I don't know if it's hollow, it's not my bike, but I'll check!

That's my choice for lifting the bike. I've put several eye lag bolts into the rafters in my garage and hung the bike using 4 common racket straps. Put the straps through the frame and lift one at a time. You'll have the bike wheels off the ground and can then pull your forks, swing arm, or whatever. Cost is fairly inexpensive for the WalMart racket straps (you probably already have some), and as a bonus, the bike isn't going to fall off of a motorcycle stand.
