Nigel (gray) and Rambo (blue) were best buds. Nigel got old, got out, and was never seen again. Rambo will be with us for a couple of decades more, I'm sure! He once got out as well, and flew into the woods. My daughter was able to coax him back.

A twofer also. This is Cleofatra, and Dusty.

Cleo was a great obese animal who we got while still in college and she moved with us from OK to OH to CO and lived many a year until diabetes got her.

Dusty...well, I don't know if I ever related this story here because it was all too crazy at the time. Dusty was Mike's GSD. I had two teenagers, two cats, Dante, and a turtle when I met Mike. He had Dusty. Dusty was high strung, protective, hadn't been around people much, and she had a lot of adjusting to do. She took on the whole family to protect and Dante helped her learn to simma' down, just a bit. Mike and Dusty were as attached as I've ever know an animal and person to be. The connection was incredible, and I can't even describe how deep it ran.

But...she was getting on in age, but while she was still getting around, when in late 2011 Mike had a stroke at home at the age of 45. He could walk, but not talk, and while we gathered ourselves to go to the ER, she just laid there and waited. Overnight, my mom, my kids went by the house to take her outside and check in on her, and she refused to stand up. I went over first thing in the morning, and tried to lift her, but she refused to move her back end. And growled lightly at me in angst. I had to go back to the hospital and give Mike more bad news. He determinedly checked out of the hospital, went home, and carried her outside, crying the whole time. We had to call out a mobile vet to put her down because she couldn't walk.

I swear she took the worst of the stroke for him. I can't explain any other way how a dog that walked, shaky, but fine enough before, suddenly could not walk at the same time this happened. RIP Dusty Doo.

Ok, new month, new week, new theme. I'm picking this time.

But not posting yet, I got places to go, things to do. The gal I got this idea off of recently shut down doing it, due to lack of participation, so don't give up on me yet, this has been a hoot!

Let's go opposite of rivers. Hot, dry, rocks, sand, deserts, sun. GO!
