Mutedblades' new ride with introduction

So, I traded some things around and ended up with a 2004 FZ1 with 10,793 on the clock. Pretty clean bike considering the age. Seems like it should serve me well for quite a while. Here she is in all of her glory.

As for me, I grew up on a farm in Virginia in the shadow of Old Rag Mountain. I spent a little time in the army and found that I don't like getting shot at, so that was that. Bounced around a little bit after the mil, and finally have settled back in Virginia on the south side of Lake Anna. I love to hunt and fish and I plan on adding riding to the list. Outside of that, I can say that while I don't have tons of on road MC experience, I can handle myself on a dirt bike and hopefully I have enough sense not to get stupid. As some of you saw with my helmet question, I am trying to be safe....at least as safe as one can be on 2 wheels.

Welcome to the forums! Grats on your new bike! The black engine with the blue is the best color combo for gen 1's, in my opinion.

Welcome muted, and congrats on picking up a gem of a bike. Indeed, the Gen 1 FZ is a great all round, do it all type of bike. With normal maintenance it will last, as we have one forum member with over 250k.

Get a full set of gear, ATGATT. Then take your time learning street skills and the bike. She may look tame, but has enough power to get you in over your head in a split second.

As you can see, its a great forum here, lots of knowledge and nice folks.

Interesting ding on the left frame tube by the tank. What happened there?

Might want to check the date code on the tires, just to know how old they are.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Took the bike out today and enjoyed every minute of it!

iluvmyfz1, the ding matches the scrape on the rear tire and the left side bar end. A previous owner dropped it. I still am not entirely sure how they got the ding there, must have been onto a rock or something like a curb. Oh well. Still beautiful to me. As for gear, I am working on a full set. Helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots are taken care of. Just need some riding pants. I am the type of person who would wear all my "battle rattle" no matter what the weather. I have even thought of getting a leather riding jacket just because I feel it might provide more protection than a mesh or textile one.

WileECoyote: Thank you as well.

Ole Black and Blue. Nice! Do you know of any modifications that where done to the bike?

Everything is stock except the front turn signals (no-name), exhaust (two brothers slip on), and frame sliders (no name). Aside from those, I am fairly certain nothing else was done to the bike.
