I always hated ear buds with helmets. Always something else to mess with. And your ears hurt after a while.

quick unrelated note. I'm guessing I designed part of the packaging that those IEM's came in.

Here is were I'm dealing from in this exploration. Very concerned over hearing damage. I know it comes with the territory. I ride religiously with earplugs, quiet helmet, etc... If the noise cancelling on the Bose helps prevent hearing damage by eliminating the worst of the rumble, I'm good with it.

Gonna roll with this for a bit and see how it shakes out.

Best,
Ron

Latest firmware installed. QR code in the tiny manual needed for installing the JBL standard sound profile and if you have one of the better devices you get some other profiles as well.

Audio tests conducted using Steely Dan's Do It Again, Denny Dias electric sitar solo and all. Confirms what I'd read in reviews, no additional volume, but much much better quality than my stock 40s. Way more bass and just much better everywhere. Much less hissing at high volume levels than the 40s.

Worth $80? Yes if you listen to a fair bit of music. Probably not otherwise. Course this is a motorcycle forum. The spend on the vast majority of things discussed here is rarely justified
