Bitcoin has "crashed" 30% SIX TIMES in 2017. Each "crash" has been followed by an increase of: 76%, 237%, 183%, 165%, 152%. Bitcoin takes 7 steps forward, 2 steps back, 7 steps forward, 2 steps back. Every 2 steps back is heralded as the end of #bitcoin. Relax!
That's typical back & fill behavior, same as you'll observe in the S&P for eg. after a couple large moves 1 way or the other, you'll see a retracement - often ~50% of the prior move. It also helps to shake out the "weak hands".

During this holiday season I have decided to introduce Patcoin, the latest in innovative crypto currencies verifed by blockchain technology. The exclusive agent for making a thoughtful and prudent investment in this opportunity has been awarded to Paypal at this email address. The financial markets have recognized the uniqueness of this product and have bestowed upon it a premium exchange rate of US$20,000.00 for one Patcoin. Qualified investors may purchase no fewer than five and no more than fifty Patcoins per single secure transaction.

Patcoins have proven to be exceedingly popular and may now be converted into Patpoints on a dollar per dollar basis. Patpoints may then be used to purchase additional Patcoins.

Due to security concerns redemption of Patcoins into dollars has been suspended indefinitely. Golden Tulip level investors in Patcoin will receive an original tintype of Charles Ponzi engraved with the signature of Bernard Madoff.

Hey, I've got an investor lined up for you. Today my daughter's boyfriend found out his mother just bought a timeshare. Her reasoning - direct quote - "Sometimes you just have to trust people".

I immediately gave my daughters a quick summary - No timeshare, no variable or whole life insurance, and no annuities.

To those who wish to know more: Patcoins aren't real coins. Just like bitcoins they aren't actually anything at all.

But to those who still want to respond to this post: Patcoin "investors" receive a lifetime 'no-ban' guarantee.

I prefer Pat's 2001 FZ1 futures.

You get the thing up and running in the present, and then you ride off into the "future" of sport touring. Works for me. lol!

Dean

P.S. Merry Christmas Pat, and Happy New Year to you, my good friend.

Interesting reading on Bitcoin, shawdowy characters who oversee large sums of money, refuse to be audited, and have offshore operations. Shocking, I know...

https://seekingalpha.com/article/412...ne-way-go-true

Quote:

1) Tether Limited management also runs Bitfinex, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges.
2) Tether Limited has not been audited, and the management actively dodges any request for an audit, with the CFO of Bitfinex stating that “Writing that some non specified "third party" audited our numbers and found nothing wrong with them is something what will re-assure you about our honesty?” Note that no one is asking for a “non specified third party.”
3) It is unclear where Tether Limited banks (given reason is protection privacy), but we do know that Wells Fargo has severed its relationship.
4) Tether Limited recently engaged Friedman LLP to perform an “audit,” but all the legalese from the filing signals that Friedman absolutely does not want its efforts to be viewed as an audit, stating “this engagement does not contemplate tests of accounting records or the performance of other procedures performed in an audit or attest engagement.”
5) Tethers have been issued in large lots of tens of millions.

If one believes that this is all a legitimate operation, one would have to believe that there are some astute traders/investors willing to write checks each worth tens of millions dollars multiple times in several days to an offshore corporation that is unaudited, in exchange for digital tokens for which they legally have no recourse should conversion to USD be denied; the management is allergic to an audit because it has nothing to hide, thus doesn’t need an audit; and that high correlation between Tether’s supply and the price of Bitcoin is purely coincidental.

If you do, then I have a bridge to sell.

The Scheme

I believe that Tether Limited issues Tether at will, transfers Tether to Bitfinex, buys Bitcoin with Tether, then sells Bitcoin for USD.

The combination of Tether and the popularity of Bitfinex makes this scheme very difficult to break. Through this scheme, Tether Limited can seamlessly “create” USD without a clear victim.
The above article makes a good case that the people running Bitfinex, a central "exchange" for Bitcoin, are corrupt. There is a strong risk that Bitcoin is gonna implode, and this seems appropriate...

If they can create USD without a clear victim, they are doing better than the Federal Reserve. Owners of US dollars are victims of the feds additional fiat currency.

Wells Fargo has an interest in dicrediting Bitcoin and most other cryptocurrency, as they are behind Dash a blockchain cryptocurrency designed to be used for international banking transactions. I haven't confirmed but I heard one of it's board members made it incredibly expensive to be a cryptocurrency exchange in the state of New York.

I almost pulled the trigger on litecoin at $101 each when I found out it has transactions in 1/4 the time of Bitcoins. That was just 2 weeks ago.
