Rebulit my Gen 1!

If anyone remembers, i've posted here long ago about some valve guide problems (or so i thought). Since then, i've come around to rebuilding the engine for the second time ("free time" doesnt exist with electrical eng. studies). Here's some pics:

Just wanted to send a HUGE thank you to Pat,
If it wasn't for you this bike was long gone. Greets and Shalom from Israel

Impressive! So, what all did you do? Any trans work while you were in there?

Thanks! Actually the trans was fine. I bought this bike a couple of years ago for a good price (here a bike with a seized engine for 2.5k bucks is considered cheap) and replaced its crank, bearings, rings, honed cylinders etc... I guess the largest mistake I made was not taking care of the head, which was done at the second time after I messed up the old head. New lick of high-heat paint and it has a new life to it. I also fitted an Ivans kit alongside the filters and a yoshi can which the bike had to begin with. It runs nice. Man, I wish I had the time and resources to fiddle around with some other bike. One day :-)

Didn't catch the Israel location before. Truly a worldwide community we have here.

Simply amazing. A Worldwide Forum or a forum that has reached out to a cat in Israel. Parties involved should be extremely proud that they've helped a friend in need so very far away.
This is what we do here, help each other, apparently no matter how far.

Far freakin out. Glad to be associated with y'all.

Now here's the rest of the story.

I got an engine from a guy I did some work for. He had wrecked, crashing into a utility trailer, which took out the lower right side of the engine case. But the rest of the engine was fine. He had another engine with a grenaded transmission.

I combined the two engines and made a good one for him, and he gave me all the left-over parts as partial payment for the work. So I had a perfectly good head sitting around, with no good engine to live on.

Its life almost ended on the side of the road in rural Oklahoma. Now it's back in service, on the other side of the world.

Glad to see you got it all back together, Meirson.

This is awesome. You certainly did a great job in your spare time. She sounds like she’s should now. Go find the time to ride her now. Much deserved.

That's about to be the fate of the two spare engines I have with identical problems.

Wow, nice work. I forgot how beautiful a 5 valve Yamaha head is. Yup..... Patrick is worldwide and wall to wall helpful with knowledge, those parts have history and karma so ride when when you get the chance.
