The cool gadgets thread!

I can't believe with all the technogeeks on this board we don't have a thread
dedicated to the wonderful world of GADGETS! So lets start.

This looks cool. It's a 5 gig USB drive. 3.3 inches wide, .7 inches thick. Only $90.

I think these are really cool. A personal digital video recorder with a 100gb harddrive. Other models and sizes are available. This one has a 4" screen. You can offload digital pics directly from your camera, or from your computer. You can also copy video and MP3s to it, or record video from any source with a docking pod. You can connect a remote bullet cam to it through the docking pod for recording onboard bike videos. Archos is coming out with their own remote mini-cam but I don't think it's out yet. But someone else sells this unit with a remote cam already attached to it so you don't have to use the docking pod. I don't need it and can't afford it, but I still think it's cool. It records video in MPEG-4 format which it says is an AVI format. I don't know if that will edit as easily as regular AVI video. I know MPEG-2 is harder to edit than AVI. Oh, this one's $700.

They do have cheaper models with smaller harddrives. I can't afford them either.

What kind of quality do you get for $10? Is it made in China per chance?

excellent quality for $10.

seriously, it is surprisingly good quality. i was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised myself (i had originally planned on giving one of them to my brother, but i wound up keeping it ). some of the "middle tools" are a little tough to get out, but i already have a really nice gerber multitool, so i just got this one as a glovebox type purchase. not perfect, but EASILY worth $10 (plus shipping though). i'd buy one for yourself, then another for a buddy or your dad for Christmas to offset the shipping cost.
