Ahh, baseball...

...the most perfect game ever wrought by man!

Finally!

In Texas Ranger news, C. J. Wilson had a very good outing today. But our closer threw it away.

And in Bay area baseball news...

Hey, Des! What's going on out there??

Three-martini lunches at the uniform shop? People at Majestic hitting the during breaks?

I love baseball, but it is rough around here. My beloved royals haven't been in the playoffs since i was 6 freaking years old.

3-0, leading the West, thanks for asking.

My Rockies open up their home schedule this weekend. There's nothing like sitting in the stands around the time the sun is setting behind the mountains and all around me are smiling faces, hot dogs, beer and beautiful women. Batter up!

Oh, I hear that Barry Bonds is down to a buck 80 and looking like his head is the size of a beach ball. Steroids do have a permanent cost.

Yah, not so much. He looks pretty much like he did in his last game in SF.

I'll see him Sunday. He's gonna be there.

I enjoyed watching Barry hit the ball. I have mixed emotions about the whole steroid thing. I played sports and never used drugs. I'm a purist that way. I also understand the business end of things and you give the fans what they want to see.

That opening day pitching for the Giants was something else! Gotta love it!

The Braves are ready to play yet another disappointing season. C. Jones is on day to day, situation normal.

I long for past, almost glorious, days.

I don't know, looks right to me! ;)

Gotta feel bad for Astro fans, they gotta go to St. Louis to play 3rd best N. League team at home down 0-6.

Every fifth day is a Halladay around here (50th complete game today).

Cliff Lee coming to Texas??

Early reports are the Rangers and Mariners have come to a trade agreement. Cliff Lee is coming to Texas!

Should I hope? Given the Rangers' financial desperation, will MLB okay the deal??

Yankees poised to either land Lee or face him
Amid reports that have the Yankees on the verge of making a deal with the Mariners, the focus of the trade -- Cliff Lee -- is slated to start tonight against the team trying to acquire him.

.... After multiple reports indicated that the Yankees were near a deal to acquire Mariners left-hander Cliff Lee, the talks have apparently stall
Hmm...

YES!!

Quote:
A lot of moving parts still up in the air, but Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting the Mariners have dealt pitcher Cliff Lee and reliever Mark Lowe to the Texas Rangers for first baseman Justin Smoak and three other prospects.

The Mariners say they can't confirm or comment on any deal at this point.

A deal with the New York Yankees for top catching prospect Jesus Montero is apparently off the table now, with Rosenthal saying Smoak is the new target of Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik.
I hope it holds together...

We can win the West!

Oh Yeah!!

I'm with Buc on this one. Baseball is an awesome game. Raising 2 rowdy boys that hated school if it hadn't been for baseball they most likely would have dropped out.

Took three of four from the Angels!! Go Rangers! Seven games up in the AL West!

Cliff Lee pitched great for 8 1/3 to get his first win as a Ranger, CJ Wilson threw a four-hitter over 8 to win the 1-0 duel with Saunders, and Tommy Hunter got his 8th win in 10 starts yesterday to close out the series.

October baseball in Arlington, baybee!!
