Twins top the Braves last night on a pinch hit walk-off by Sano. Lots of people reminiscing about the '91 series in my friend group...

Video post fail. I am just picturing every single player on their roster getting hurt simultaneously though. :'(
I can't believe a 200 hitter didn't run out the pop up. Everyone should but an arrogant superstar may get away with it (cough.. Harper) on occasion. A depth player just can't do that ever let alone late in a tie game with a runner on.

Why wasn't the infield fly rule called?

Have to have a runner on first AND second or bases loaded and less than two out.

Not the case in this situation, only one on first.

I wonder if the batter assumed it would be called. Oops.

Giants DFAd World Series second baseman Joe Panik today. Kind of feel punched in the gut on this one. But his performance has never been the same since fracturing a vertebrae a couple years ago.

I was at a game in 2011 when he was introduced as a spectator sitting with ownership. I think he was their #1 pick. I clapped and figured yah whatever. Iíll never see him in the bigs.

3 years later heís on the team hitting .300, a defensive wizard. He was instrumental in the playoffs and World Series with a clutch home run against the Nats and one of the best defensive plays in the WS when he started a double play with this incredible move.

Hey Quazz.

An update on your boy Pillar.

He leads the giants in RBIs, home runs, hits and average.

Now granted the giants suck on offense. But still it’s pretty cool. Oh and he has more RBIs than Puig does!!!

The Orioles broke a single season record, and only in mid-August! Looks like they will set a mark which will not be surpassed for decades!

Unfortunately, it was for most home runs surrendered to the opposition in a single season.

If you're gonna do something, do it at the highest level you can. The Phillies seem to be intent on braking the record for number of runners left in scoring position.

Wow, i never would have guessed that. He was always great defensively but only streaky at the plate. I always thought that if he was more selective he could hit a lot better but unless the pitch was into the announcer's booth he would swing. I am glad for him he seemed like a good guy and class act in Toronto. The fans loved him.

He's quickly become a fan fave here too. Even when was having a hard time it's clear he’s always working and of course in the outfield he’s excellent.

Giants haven’t had a legit MLB center fielder in ages so that’s been a nice change. In fact currently Gmen have one of the highest rated out fields in the NL.

It doesn’t matter for this year but it’s a nice change.

AMERICAN CARDIOLOGISTS ASSOCIATION VOTES TO SPONSOR MILWAUKEE BREWERS FOR 2019 "GAME OF CARDIAC EVENTS"

Washington, D.C.
August 18, 2019
Disassociated Press

The board of directors of the American Cardiologists Association voted unanimously early this morning to present the 2019 "Cardiac Bowl" award to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The hastily convened board meeting took place moments after the Brewers beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 15 to 14 in fourteen innings in a game that started on Saturday evening and ended Sunday morning.

After two separate sudden death game tying rallies by the Nats (in the bottoms of 9th and 13th), the Nats needed two more in the bottom of the 14th to again tie the game.

They seem poised to do it, and got one run back. But then the entire Nats team voted to go quit and home to watch Sunday morning cartoons, according to a player who refused to be quoted.

According to one board member (also speaking on the condition of anonymity), the game produced an immediate 10% increase in cardiac related ER visits on Saturday night and Sunday morning at Washington area hospitals. "With games like this, we don't need smoking and high cholesterol to sustain us anymore," he said.

The Jays blew up their team to concentrate on developing their farm system and it seems to be working. They have some fantastic young players ho are on the roster now. They will be a very good team in two or three years with the huge caveat that it depends on pitching. It always comes down to pitching.

Craig Bigioís son plays for them and he is pretty good.

and Vlad Guererro's son too and he will be a superstar. Bo Bichette was a top prospect and recently came up and he doubled in his first 9 games and was hitting 450 ish!
None of it matters without great pitching though and I don't know if they have any great ones coming up. It is hard to tell with pitchers anyway, they can become great after being mediocre and vice versa.
