Depends on the year and colour you want.

i.e. if you want the red one, you will need a 2004 - 2006 R1 powerband

from memory only the 2008 and 2009 R1 yellow bands fit the Gen2 FZ1.

R1 post 2015 won't work, no matter which colour you want.

Any special instructions? Do I wind it clockwise or counter clockwise? Maybe that depends on year too.

When I worked parts at the Yamaha Honda shop they had a"power band chart" which was some nails with large rubber bands stretched around them. Not sure making fun of the customers was a good business model, but we enjoyed it

Nope... You just need your biggest tire iron to leverage it into place. They are strong bands!
