Darvish had moments of brilliance here, they faded when he settled in and started a family. Seems like some highly paid athletes lose the edge in Dallas.
His ERA was kind, good luck with his interpreter as he won't use english after all these years.

Jays have gumption

Having watched Big Time Timmy Jim go from a mind boggling talented rookie ,two time cy young, two time no hitter pitcher (I was there for one!) a dominant force in the playoffs, then suddenly become a 5.00 era guy and his career just go off the rails...I just don't know what to say.

More recently the Giants had jake peavy and it came out after he retired that his life was undegoing seriously bad family shit in his final year. Is it a surprise his pitching went off the rails to?

We're just spectators.

I wish Yu the best in his career. But I won't be pulling for him when he's wearing the hated blue.

Oooo! That rhymed!!!

I wish Yu well too.

Anyway baseball is maddening. Aces become bums, bums become aces and every other possible scenario.
Encarnacion was a bum when the Jays picked him up on waivers and since then he has been one of the if not the leader in hrs in MLB. So of course the Jays let him go.
So much of baseball is just dumb luck. Were the Jays genius for picking up Encarnacion or Bautista (another bum that turned out great)? I really doubt it, no one could have predicted this or that Darvish would all of a sudden suck. I think a chimp could pick winners and losers almost as much as an expert.

Been a lot of Yu puns around the house and office the last 24 hours...

Sing along if you like.

"I can't live, if living is without Yu!"

Rangers GM Jon Daniels, making those calls yesterday: "Can anybody find meeeee, somebody YUUUU loves?" (Yu had a 10-team no trade provision in his contract.)

And of course, from The Sound of Music, "Adieu! Adieu! To Yu and Yu and Yu!"

74 and 31! The Dodgers have won nine in a row, currently. This is just completely unbelievable, to say the least!

There has to be a break, at some point. For a Dodger fan it is fun, but we shall see.

No one remembers regular season records. Except maybe the Mariners.

Here I'm still clinging to the hopes that the Angels will just have a .500 season. They've got 6 starters on the DL, but 2 are due back this month of they don't have a delay in rehab (that's been the story all season). Oh well, it's still fun to watch!

In 2015 he was good. But they didn't make it out of the first round. Last year. Not so good.

Darvish deals, dazzles, displays dominance during Dodgers' debut!

Okay, wasn't all mine, but I embellished.

10 k's over 7 pitched. Nice to see the young man get it done.

Wow. Yah that's impressive. Well there ya go. Sometimes ya need a change of scenery.
Or maybe none of those batters have ever faced him.

Meanwhile in sf Brandon belt gets hit in the head. Again. This is when it starts to get scary for a player. I think this is #3 shot to the head in a year or so.

4th concussion in 8 years. 3 in he last 4 years it seems.

Either way lots of concerns about his career now. I'm guessing season is over.

In other news. Pablo Sandoval is playing 3rd and batting cleanup tonight.

Never thought that was something possible ever again. Weird.

Costs Giants basically zero. But still. Weird.

So if the Dodgers win the WS and nobody can see it on TV, did it happen?

Since June 1, 13 starts, 95.3 innings, 7-1, 1.70 ERA, .472 OPS allowed, 15 walks, 142 strikeouts, 8 or more strikeouts per game.

KLUBOT. You will be assimilated.

Go Tribe!

Heading to Phoenix tomorrow to catch a couple of minor league games that my wife's nephew will be umpiring. He started out the season in a Carolina league of some sort, and then was called up to the minors.

Gonna be HOT though - it's 102 at 8:45 at night right now!
