That is so sad. Saw Rush 8 times, my favorite band, and he was my favorite drummer. He was a great Author and lyricist. I loved reading about his motorcycle touring.

My second to the last time I saw them, took the whole family so the boys could see them too.

Crap. Just heard this news on the drive home.

A proper occasion, albeit somber, to dust this great story off...

Saw them two, maybe three times at Red Rocks. The first time Mike and I were still dating it was so long ago. It was an amazing venue. A thunderstorm just went over, the full moon was rising, and we were outdoors at that natural amphitheater.

I read the books, and even tried to reach out to him to suggest he was staying in the wrong hotels in the US and made a couple of suggestions. Always hoped I'd run into him riding and and out of Colorado.

Sad, he was way to young to go. That is the second Canadian rock star recently lost to brain cancer. Gord Downey of the Tragically Hip died of it last year.

There are several Rush songs that I like because of his mastery of the drums. RIP.

Grew up listening to Rush, started with Exit Stage Left. It made an imprint. Saw them several times here in Atlanta, the first being Presto in 89-90. Great music from cool dudes.

Thanks for the good times Neil. RIP man.

Here is an amazing look at all of their tour dates, starting in 1968!

A lesson to us all, live while we are alive. Neil did life right - what a musician and what a man, gone way too soon. RIP.

An immense talent for sure. Rest in peace, Ghost Rider. I can't imagine the drum kit he must be playing now. Or the bike he must be riding. Maybe at the same time!

1978 me and a buddy were playing his older brothers records on the hifi and I saw a record with a cool owl on it. We put it on and 15 seconds after Anthem started playing we looked at each other and both became life long RUSH fans.

RIP

I only saw Rush one time, it was decades ago. They played a long time, put on an amazing show.

The one thing that particularly blew my mind was Neil, sitting in his massive drum kit, throwing his spinning sticks high in the air like batons, then catching them and continuing on, never missing a beat. Found a little video of that.

Drumming always seemed to require way more....both trust and attention to detail than almost any other instrument. Knowing where all of those pieces of the instrument are without even looking, but the precise detail of where they are...
