Those are great photos Tina! As usual.

The family chipped in to get my son-in-law a Nikon P1000 for Christmas so that he could take pictures of the moon and planets. I know nothing about cameras but it's supposed to be very good for that purpose.

Today's BLM Eagle Count...

Immature Bald Eagle

Lots of Ferruginous Hawks today, you can tell them by their yellow smile

While all hawks can be hard to tell apart, these have much more distinctive coloring usually.

Baby it's cold outside, 11 total Goldens, including two checking out a nest site.

The Great Horned Owl pair we found on the Christmas Bird Count were in the same tree....

You can see our RAV in the bird's right eye (our left)

Did I ever mention we have deer out here?

Lots of deer...

Oh, you think that's a rack?

There were about a dozen bucks in that group. And just in the next field over, probably 60 does.

Then it was over to Story, WY for a walk along the creek

Goodnight!

So, is the 900 the predecessor to the 1000? If so, he'll be able to take some great pictures if he has a good eye like you do. He tells us that it is a great camera and it looks like it is.

Yes, and I had the P830 before it, which was incredible too but not near as much zoom. It's amazing what they can pack into a point and shoot now, so I'll be interested in seeing the 1000 sometime. As long as the 900 is working for me though, I'll keep it.

Two years ago my aunt gave me a lot of camera equipment that was my late uncle/godfather's. She also included cameras that were her dad's. We're talking about 100 years of equipment, mostly Minolta's as my uncle was a big fan and kept buying up and kept all of the existing cameras. He did wedding photos for fun. Lenses, cases, all kinds of stuff. Also a big old Kodak developing kit in a case I still have.

I sold almost all of it on eBay and made about $800, putting that into savings for the eventuality of breaking or losing the P900. I kept some of the best bits though.

A few photos of the kit. I really need to drag it out and get some cooler shots.

There is way more stuff in it than shown below.

The Busch Press Camera

The Hasselblad

The Kodak, I can't remember if it's a brownie, but similar if not

Some photographer friends suggested I should keep the cameras, lenses and learn how to use them and develop film. I just don't see that in my future. Maybe when I retire some decades from now, and have time to take a class or something, but my subjects really move too fast to chance wasting actual film.

It was actually quite fun selling them. Despite requests to sell up front on eBay, I set them like eBay used to be, auctions with a reserve sometimes, and others not, to run a week. My uncle loved to play on eBay and snipe things. I put in the disclaimers that nothing was tested, that I didn't know much about the equipment, would do the best I could to describe it and let folks know if anything was scratched and so on, but it was as is. He would've loved it.

Great series of photos, Tina! And yes, I concur that the 900 is working for you quite well. The P1000, in your hands, would make some awesome images, though.

I still got some old film photo & video equipment collecting dust in the closet ... but not like your pieces. Those cameras were considered top-of-line and, in the condition shown, are probably worth a lot to collectors. Very nice!

Those are awesome cameras, plus the developing stuff. My Dad had an old Ricoh look down camera, wish I could find it, took nice photos.

Winston Churchill Books
Halliburton Zero Hard case
Heiland Flash
Canon lens fd 135 mm 1:2.5
Hoya PL 55
Prinz 55 UV

And everything I kept, I think....

Cameras
Busch Press Camera w/HR Flash, Polaroid Film Holder, Halliburton Case

Developing Kit/Kodak
Kodak 32 oz Dark Room Graduate Measure
FR Film Developing Tank
U11 Kodachrome Filter for Photoflood
Kodak Folding Camera

Hasselblad
Hasselblad 500 C
Hasselblad Sports Viewfinder w filters
Hasselblad Viewfinder
Hasselblad Viewfinder
Hasselblad Chrome 6x6 220 film back
Hasselblad Chrome 6x6 220 film back
Hasselblad Gossen Light Meter

Equipment
Craig Junior Splicer 8-16 mm
Herman Scheider Proximeter
Herman Scheider Proximeter
Miranda Cadius
Accura Light Meter
Kopil Duo-Track Bellowscope Bellows
Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder Adapter
Coast Black Leather Camera Case
Adapter Rings
Praktica Brown Leather Case

I donated a couple of things, like early model digital cameras that weren't worth anything and not getting any nibbles on eBay. I went to a very well known camera place in NYC with a list first, and they came back with laughable prices. I know they gotta make money too, but it was nuts not to just do it myself. It ended up being fun anyway, a lot of buyers got a kick out of the story behind it. I enjoyed knowing the parts were going out to people the world over who would use them.
