Caught the 9th in a weird Cubs game yesterday, tough week, no bullpen left against NY. The catcher was pitching, a catcher was at bat and one catching some wild stuff. tossed some strikes, almost nailed a few batters and the fans were drinking a little...hilarious ! Love Joe Maddon just for being Joe.

This just in: Rangers are in trouble, hard to watch.

Tweet from Giants broadcaster a bit ago. Lol.

"Giants player bus broke down on way to airport. Not kidding. We picked them up on shoulder. Say it with me everyone - stay hot Giants"

The Phils just played the Nats for the 9th time this season, and they play them another series next week.
Who made this damn schedule?
Jason Werth was booed louder than normal after 2 homers and a double.
But Aaron Altherr tied the game, with a 3 run Pinch hit Homer. Best 1/2 million Phillies spent this year. They won in the 10th.

No shit. I think the Astros have played only 3 or 4 teams all year so far.

I am pretty sure that they load the requirements into scheduling software and include lots of constraints including key dates (the Jays are always home for Canada Day for example), stadium conflicts, final month inter division games and so on. Some clerk somewhere enters it all and hits enter and the next thing you know you have a crazy schedule.

The schedule was created for a yeaaaaarss by a husband and wife team!!!

I think that changed some years ago, but MLB doesn't make the schedule!

Theres a 30 for 30 episode about them which I've never managed to see.

The masterminds for 25 years behind this massive logistical undertaking were Henry and Holly Stephenson. A husband and wife duo working out of an upstairs bedroom in their Staten Island home with a computer, a pencil and a great deal of cooperation. How did this mom-and-pop team ever end up with the daunting and thankless job of MLB scheduling? This is the story of how the Stephensons landed their first MLB contract and became "The Schedule Makers."

Annnnnnd the hits keep coming for the Giants. Except not from the offense.

Now their new 62 million dollar closer heads to the DL with an "pronator" strain. No worries. It's just something to do with the elbow. How bad could it be?

Plus they don't need a closer anymore as they never have a lead anymore.

Oy vey. What a fiasco and there's 5 months left!

The Rangers complete the sweep of the Phils, and they've won 9 in a row.

Who saw that coming?

At my watering hole today and a friend brought along a dude who I'd never met. His name is Bill.

Bill retired to puerto Vallarta with his wife many years ago. He's here to visit his daughter.

Anyway. He's got a Giants cap on. So we start chatting baseball.

He starts talking about Micky and Casey and Billy... and I go. Uh. What? Wait. Who?

Yah he went to loads of those games in the 50s.

This is what I love about baseball. Listening to an old timer telling me about a game
From way back in the day.

Oh. And Bill happened to have a heart transplant on 9/11/01 and says he has a "pig valve"

Bill is a badass. And I'm so glad to have met him.

Cool stuff Des, baseball has the best long term fanbase in all of sports. When I see a ball or autograph collection the story of how it came to be, who procured it and the old guy he bought it from is awesome, better than the player most times. In 20 years I hope to share a bar spot with Desmo while watching a game.

Rangers going for 10 in a row, I was worried 12 games ago. We shall see.
