Pocket Rocket...Hot Hatch....whatever

I bought a 2015 Ford Fiesta ST. I've been missing shifting a car, and always enjoyed a light, quick and nimble car. Well if you've been paying attention, pretty much all of the motoring press has been really high on this car. Road & Track picked it third in its Performance Car of the Year competition, behind the new Corvette Stingray (1st) and the Mercedes SLS AMG Black. Pretty good company I'd say. Other sources have been equally complimentary.

The Recaro seats add $2,000, so I skipped those. Only wanted nav, but couldn't find a black one with just that, so I got a moonroof too, which will rarely be used. For those who don't know, it's a 1.6 liter turbo with 197 bhp and 202 lb ft of torque. Only comes with a 6 speed manual. Depending on whose test you read it does a 6.7 or so 0-60 and a 15 sec quarter. It's actually a little slower than my Accord in a straight line, but a LOT more fun to drive. Still breaking it in, sort of, so I haven't sampled it's full glory.

I autocrossed for about 6 years in my younger days, and I can see myself doing a few of those again. I will probably sell one of my bikes at least, and maybe two. We'll just have to see.

Anyone else have any experience with one of these?

Little brother

Won't be putting much more than groceries back here. The seats do fold down though, to make a pretty roomy area to haul stuff.

The interior is actually more black than it looks.

Yeah, I found this place:

http://www.cobbtuning.com/

They've got a 3 stage performance upgrade path that I will probably have to sample at some point.

That way they'll each have half the miles on them.

I figure it's cheaper than bass fishing. You can rationalize anything. Plus I can hop in it and go have fun, without having to put all that gear on.

Congrats!
Everything I've read about them makes it seem like it captures the original GTI spirit.
Just an absolute blast to drive.
Says something about the overall engineering and package that you fit in it, even with the sunroof package.

As I am currently bike OR sporty car shopping, I wish I wasn't often thinking this very thing.

Oh it's plenty roomy in the front. Not much room behind me though. I've actually pulled my seat up one notch from what it was in that picture of the back seat. Not cramped at all, and plenty of head room.

Give me fair warning on this one. I've been debating selling the FJR and picking up a Wee or selling the FJR and buying a bicycle. You might catch me in a moment of weakness.

A new car, an almost-Spinal-Tap reference, and a thread title that has a whole 'nother meaning in my world? What's not to love?

I have been thinking about getting a "small" car lately. That car looks badass.

No dual clutch lectro shift or diff lock or I would have one, dealer let me use one for 2 days and it was a blast. Don't buy that gold demo in north Texas.
Agree with the fun without gearing up in hot weather, save the bikes for those times and rock the hot hatch turn up tunage and a/c.
Need some go pro inside wheel lift video from you soon.
