Didn't they do something like that with the auto maker bailouts? There were some kind of guidelines anyway they had to follow to pay it back.

Yeah since they weren't even testing people till a week or so ago, the mortality rate is going to look artificially high in many states due to unreported cases.

10% of a thousand people’s gross payroll is hard to give up, pandemic be damned, pastors on stage social distanced away from the unwashed masses anyway.

Funny, as they are headquartered and their ships are all flagged in other countries to avoid US labor laws, taxes and regulations. Let the non American flagged cruise lines go to Panama, The Bahamas, Bermuda, etc for their bailouts. F the cruise lines...

They are getting them, too. Can’t flag their ships US but they can beg for a US bailout, bullshit! They barely employ any Americans, either. Just a few officers, some only the Master, and a few starving, desperate, musicians.

My wife is self employed as a in home daycare provider. She spent 3 days in the ICU last year with the flu, so we decided that she should shut down her business for the time being.

She doesn't get unemployment, and the additional $600 for 4 months I'm sure wont be available to her. Luckily for us we keep expenses low.

But Oil companies need bailouts.

Exactly. Your wife should be first in line. But that would lead to some sort of sense of entitlement you see, says the banker and oil company with their billions in bailouts.

Well I can't cut any more wood since the frost is out of the ground and can't use the tractor. We go from snow and frozen ground to mud in a couple days and it is ugly. I guess I will have to obsess about something else. Here is my wood pile and my office for the last few weeks. It is really hard work and at first I would need to take days off between cutting but after doing so much of it I don't and don't remember ever feeling this fit. I went from being sore and stiff in every muscle to feeling quite good. All because of this awful pandemic. I need a new distraction.

I was under the impression that self-employed was eligible for many of these benefits. Please look into it; you may be able to get some help.

I thought about that but this is all maple and is next year's firewood. I will heat all winter for free as long as I don't assign a cost to my labour which I don't. It is just how I dealt with this virus. I always cut two or three cords but not this year. I selectively cut too and leave the beautiful trees. This thinning makes for a healthier and prettier forest and is a perpetual source of wood. The trails I make by doing this meander which is kind of cool. So it is positive all around until I cut my leg off or I misjudge a tree and it falls on me
