Shoei rf 1200 what are your thoughts

Owners...what are your thoughts on the rf 1200. It's been out for a little while now. Worth 330.00? Or not worth it.

Quiet? Comfortable on longer rides? Curious to your opinions. Please share.

It's quiet and comfy for long rides. I've done week long trips with it, no issues. There are plenty of different sized padding out there for it so you can mix and match for max comfort. I wear an XL and it felt tight, got the thinner side pads for it, now it's much better. This has a lot to do with your head shape as well.

It does get quite hot on hot days, I tend to sweat a lot in general so the helmet gets the worst of it. But definitely a very nice helmet. Especially waiting in traffic...

They have a chromatic (I think that's how you spell it) visor for it and it's very cool. Changes color based on ambient light. Think it's an extra $150ish.

If you like GoPros on your helmet and want to put one on the chin, it's almost impossible to use the stock sticky mounts. There's a company called Hell Mounts out of Los Angeles that make 3D printed mounts. They're $20 but work great.

Are you familiar with the old RF-1000? The 1200 fit is identical to the 1000. The 1100 was a bit too round for me, so I was thrilled to see them go back to the slightly more oval shape. I also sprang for the Transitions shield (had one on my Bell) and absolutely love it. No questions regarding Shoei quality if that is a concern.

The RF1200 is a great helmet. Relatively quiet, vents well, easy shield change (like all Shoei helmets), and comes in some great colors/patterns. I've got the 93 Marquez Indy edition. It's a sharp looking lid!

And like the Shoei RF1100 model that i have two of, all the inside liners can be removed, to wash. The liners can all be replaced, also. I replaced both top liners in my 1100's, as both were getting just a bit loose. Now both helmets fit like brand new, again. I had a choice of three different thickness sizes, on the top liners.

If the RF1200 fits your head, then you will be happy with that model helmet.

For the last twenty two years, i have only worn Shoei full face helmets. Starting with the 700 series, to my current 1100's. I have a Shoei "Qwest" model, also. And very soon, i will obtain a RF1200 for myself. Tried one on, and it fits me very well.

Just my opinion of course, about Shoei helmets.

Im wearing a scorpion r 710. In a 3x. I went to the Yamaha dealer and trued on the 1200 in a 2x. Sure snug but not cutting off circulation snug. I know it will continue to my face a little bit.

What y'all think of 330. I know it's been out for a few years.

Generally speaking, the more graphics, the more $$$. Typical Shoei and Arai marketing. What is the build date on the helmet? $330 is a great price as long as it's not 5 years old, lol. I paid $508 for a 2017-mfg Flagger TC-6.

From what I have seen with a quick search, I didn't see that graphic offered before 2016. I say go for it.

Holy bighead Dave. I've got a 2x RF1100, and thought my noggin was large.

For what it's worth, I paid ~ 300 for mine at the Chicago bike show back in 2014, with skull/wings graphics, and Spectra chrome shield.

Coming from cheaper helmets in the past, this is my first "nice" lid. It was an amazing difference at first, with wind noise, and general comfort. Granted, part of that was finding a helmet that "fit" right....

I ended up with the RF 1200 in matte black for 310.00. I think that was a fair price.
