Tin foil on the headers, with a couple holes in it, does a good job containing the oil... And a drain pan under there of course.

Will do next time. I had a couple of paper towels on the header, expecting a few drips like on most vehicles. Wasn't ready for a 1/2 quart to come pouring out after the filter was removed.

Oh yes, it's pretty stunning how much comes out of there haha. I'll usually leave mine draining out of the main plug on the side stand for an hour, and then go back for the filter.

Well, prep for Great Western adventure begins. I have new tires ready to mount. New brake pads are on the way. Also ordered a shock sock for my Penske to tidy that up. Loaded GPX files into the GPS this morning.

So, Items being assembled for full round of maintenance pre trip.

Best,
Ron

Put on a Puig sport touring shield (which I really like). Rode to the beach and home.

The great header swap of 2019.

stock, to Arrow, to Holeshot.

One Holeshot flange was crazy tight, so a tiny bit of dremel grinding fixes that, and off we go.

Why the Holeshot over Arrow?

That's a loaded question, honestly.

Bought that Arrow from Jeff last year, and didn't do anything with it...

Had a free couple days right before getting married a week or so ago, so I started pulling the stock header, and installing the Arrow.

Long story short, I'm sure I had something not completely right. I'd assemble all of the pieces, connect all of the springs, but the Mivv wanted to exit at a shallow angle from the header, which was not right.

An opportunity came up to swap from one to the other. Knowing my own abilities, maybe lack there-of...I said ok, and went with a 1pc solution.

I believe Dave now has that Arrow, and he likes it....so I dunno....

Happy with what I got at the end of the day.

Spent money on it. I bought one of the gauges from Grommet and he installed it in my cluster. Should be here tomorrow. While browsing the Devil's Playground(eBay) last night, I found a NOS gauge cluster cover residing at a shop in Canukistan, it's now on its way down South to me.
I'll take a picture when I get it all installed.
