New helmet

As some of the others on this board I ordered a Joe Rocket 201 helmet for $70 from http://www.motorcyclegear.com/

I was far from pleased with the quality and noise issues the helmet had. I currently wear an HJC RPS-10 in matte black and waffled back and forth between another one and the Shoei Qwest. The Qwest like all other Shoei didn't feel right on my forehead so I ordered the HJC RPS-10 Mugello for $149 shipped in XL. Fits like a glove just like my old one and although I'm not a fan of graphics, it will suit me well for the next year. They also have a plain black XXL on closeout for $110, that is a steal.
Some pictures.

Nice looking helmet!! Very nice graphics and heard lots of good things about HJC.

Talking of a steal, too bad your head didn't fit in the Shoei Quest. I just got one for a steal for $249 shipped, with graphics. Best buy I've made in years.

Enjoy the HJC!

That was the Qwest I was looking at too for $249, I was in Birmingham a week ago and went by Cycle Gear to try on the Qwest and it was perfect except for my forehead.

Where can you get a Quest for that price? If I could find it for that I make take the leap.

I've always been a fan of HJC. Great value, for a pretty well made helmet.
Yeah, it aint the lightest/quietest helmet, but you get a lot for your money.

I think I've owned about 10 of their helmets. Snowmobile, dirt bike, and street.

Actually according to Webbikeworld.com out of 210 helmets they have tested there are only 35 that are lighter...and the Shoei Qwest isn't one of them. As far as noise, they rate it as quiet( 4th out of a scale to 5) and noise is subjective to most people. It fits my head, jawline and chin so well that it is virtually noise free. It's the only helmet I've been able to wear without ear plugs if I forget them.
HJC makes a good quality helmet, especially if you don't like dropping $600 every year on a new lid.

I went into my local shop yesterday with every intent of buying a RF-1100 or Quest. I tried both on and liked the Quest. Then I though I'd try on an Arai just for kicks. As soon at I got it past my ears, I knew I had to have this helmet. I never thought I'd pay five Benjamin's for a bucket, but its worth every penny. I got the RX-Q.

I have the same helmet, but bought it when it was $50 higher. Perfect fit for my head.

Arai fits my head perfectly too, just like the RPS-10 but I can't justify spending $500 on a helmet. I will spend more than $500 on tires this season.

Who spends $600 on a new helmet every year? If you do you either have the budget or have zero purchasing discipline. Or you are having bad crashes on an annual basis. I am a Shoei man and I drop $400 - $500 every 4-5 years. Well worth it.

I wear the HJC because they are affordable enough when my ADHD kicks in and I have to buy something new every spring. I don't NEED a new helmet, but I always end up buying one anyway....kinda like 2012 when I went through 4 different bikes...lol.

Nothing wrong with the quality of my helmet. Shoei just doesn't fit my head properly. This RPS-10 is worlds quieter than any X-11 or X-12 I have owned. The RF11/1200 fit my forehead funny yet the X11/12 fit perfectly.
It's not about how much you pay for a helmet, it's how well the helmet protects your head. And face it Korean labor is less expensive than Japanese is these days. Shoei makes nothing but high end/dollar helmets and HJC makes about 1 model line that way, the rest are bargain basement <$150 lids. The RPS-10 is the only lid I have found that costs less and is comparable to Shoei on the quality inside the helmet. The liner on the Qwest just made me smile when I put it on, it's just off a tad on fit.
I truly wanted an X-12 or an Arai, but I can't justify the cost at home.

Yeah, I know we are going on and on. That reminds me I need to make a donation to the forum. Cause I consider this fun. It's cheaper and healthier than some other hobbies that I used to have.
