Well because some scumbag stole my Gen 2, I had to look for a new bike http://yamahafz1oa.com/forum/showpos...ostcount=10262

Really considered staying with the Gen 2 Because Iím so familiar with them and they are amazing, obviously. But as I thought about it, and with me having my Street Triple R which is my preferred ďhooliganĒ mountain carving bike, I decided I wanted to go with something a little more sport TOURING.

I was stuck in the oilfield working a month straight almost immediately after my Gen 2 was stolen, and I scoured FB marketplace all over the US and found one of the best deals ever in Florida and luckily this guy was honorable and we made a gentlemanís agreement for him to wait for me to buy it last week (was about 5 weeks from first contact till I could get to Florida)

I picked up a 2015 FJ09 with 3700 miles and full Givi luggage (and customer painted side cases to match paint) for only $5500

She is pretty fantastic. Suspension is garbage and new front valving and rear shock are coming. But the motor is a hoot and the fuel snatch isnít too bad since Iíve trained myself to be quite smooth with throttle input off/on mid corner, but she is definitely going in for an ECU flash. The only other mod, and one that really pulled me toward the FJ09, is a McCruise Cruise Control. A fully electronic and real cruise control.

Rode it 830 miles home and the stock seat isnít as horrible as the internet says and it performs very well on the slab (even though I hate the I20 trip from ATL to DFW). This CP3 does make a very coarse feeling vibration through the handlebars. Itís there, but itís not particularly intrusive, and doesnít numb the fingers or hands like the fine buzz of an I4. I read that the stock cat and exhaust is a big contributor to this so I may have to get an exhaust but I do love the quiet stock exhaust. Stock exhaust plus touring wind screen and it was a quiet ride home and I could hear all the words from my podcasts, which normally I cannot do.

Iím excited to get these mods done and enjoy some good sport touring.

I liked mine or most of it. That one has the old man mods, will it pull 115 with that windscreen?

New shock for the FJ09! Nitron R2 Shock from “Forks by Matt” for much cheaper than retail or direct from factory.

Seperate fluid reservoir and compression adjustment on the reservoir! Rebound, preload and length adjustable of course. Nitron even includes a bracket for mounting! How nice

Oh, and it’s titanium.
Fancy

Nice. I had a Nitron on my old Falco that I bought from a place in the UK, as they weren't sold in the States. Good shock, good price.

Nice looking shock!

BTW - what lead you to pick Nitron over Penske? Just curious

Just an FYI, I found the Cal-Sci tinted shorty the best windscreen for me, 0 buffeting.

Price, most likely. I hope he has a better experience with his Nitron than I had with mine. Bought one for an R6 several years ago. It leaked, wrong weight spring, corrosion, and to top it off, a broken clevis.

Nice-looking Fj09 Jake. I really wanted to like those, but they were too damn tall for my comfort level. Cruise control would rock!

Yeah I know...just sold my R1 and the hardley. I have a craigslist problem.
Always wanted a sm and good deals can't be ignored...
Back up to 4 plated rides. 1 dirt-only ride.
