Thre track days are run by the owners there. That keeps the price reasonable and they are all real nice. First timers do have to take a class unless they have a race license. The class is a good way to learn the track and work up to speed.

Thre best deal is to do a two dayer, do the class first day then go on your own the second. You move up in the classes at your discretion. Novice, Street A, Street B and Race. Street B has alot of slower people in it but is much faster than Novice.

I stayed in each class apx 4-5 days until I found a home in Street A. I am not sure I will ever make it to race. Those guys are crazy fast and I prefer to keep my bike and person in one peice.

Me, too. I could even lie and tell people it was me!
Of course I'd never do such a thing but it's on my bucket list to be able to post my own pics like that this year.

That does not look like the smoothest track in the world. Must be a little tricky to ride...

Well, you are clear across the state but Nelson Ledges is an intimidating track to ride because it looks like crap. One of the worst looking turns I'm rounding cautiously and one of the track marshalls come screaming around me at high speed. I figure, well, looks like crap, but it's got some grip for sure obviously.

Running on the wrong side of the double yellow for no reason will only get you in trouble.

Pics

First pic is Pocono Oct. 2009 on my little 1984 Honda VF500F, making an outside pass on a 1999 R6 This was my second ever track day, my first being on a 1991 500 Ninja in 2006.

Same Corner with no traffic

These next two were taken at NHIS in June 2010 I was riding my project 2005 SV650S.

These last pictures are also riding the 2005 SV650S but were taken in October 2010 at Pocono. This was the last time I was at the track and it was my second trip to Pocono and my fourth ever track day.

I know, I know, it's a no no.... no excuses......but if you can see i'm wearing communication.....there are 6 of us in the group....and we have a scout up front (probably 3 - 6 turns, depending) that relays everything back cars, bikes etc.....if their riding the line...traffic up front....rocks in the road...you get the idea...and it gets passed down the line....it's actually like haveing a "eye in the sky".

On roads we never been on, he reads his gps, calls the corners (which has saved us many of times) and still outrides us all.

Oh yea we only go to the Dragon on Monday or tuesday...no traffic...
this pic we got stuck behind a couple harleys for 2 miles until we hit the lookout............

I sadly do not have any pics from the FZ1 at the track so hopefully the following photos will not get me banned. The FZ1 pretty much sees only street duty while the bike in the photos used to be my street bike....it now only goes to the track but I've yet to convert it to 100% track bike. My respect goes out to all who get out there on the track....you are probably all like me....a freakishly addicted track junkie!

Here is one from Buttonwillow

This one is from Willow Springs.
