The old guy at 1st trackday Laguna Seca

I just thought I'd share a few pics of my trackday...gave some of the big boys in the A group hell. FZ1 is a good track bike...and better street bike as we all know. I ran a few laps in the 1:42-1:43 range with the 3 or 4 second sound booth time loss...it could have a possible sub 1:40. I know I can shave some time in almost every corner. I'm shooting to knock 3-4 seconds of next time. Enjoy.

Photo Op before trackday.

Turn 2...heading for the second apex. Double apex turn...lot of fun.

Thanks for looking! Now I have to mount all my hard cases and take a trip to Alaska...JK. I only take the wife for short 50-100 mile rides from time to time...mostly canyon riding and putting it to work. Later Fizzers

Looks fun. Maybe one day I'll get mine on the track.

I believe these are the first track day pics I've ever seen that headlights and tail lights weren't taped up.

Great pics. You look like you know what you're doing out there.

I miss track days. I think I'm done though.

How do you fare with the noise restrictions? I had the Graves on my Fizzer and it was loud as h***. I've been avoiding Laguna Seca with all the warnings of getting kicked off the track for a single noise hit. Is it just taking it easy on the throttle out of turn 5?

Cool photos! Looks like a great day.

I was just about to ask about the noise.

Just unplug brake lights and let her rip. The tech inspection is fairly thorough though.

I used to race little back in the mid 80's. I still have a little left in the tank.

As long as you're riding...that's all that matters.
I'm going to do another one this year...then maybe 2-3 per year max.

Just FWIW, you seem to have added a line to my quote above ^^^

I never raced in the 80's.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Curious why Laguna doesn't require lights to be taped. That's always seemed so pointless to me for bikes with glass, not plastic, lenses.

Why would that make less sense with glass?

Very cool. I am surprised about the lack of tape as well. I've been to a handful of tracks, and they all required it.

Oh well. Glad you had a blast!

Very nice. One of the track I want to hit one day.

I think I see sunlight under the rear tire at the cork screw.

Gotcha! I was really confused haha. Yea, I've never seen any tracks NOT require it, but it's never made much sense with the prevalence of plastic headlight housing. Maybe it's the bulb inside?

Several I know of have recently changed to only require tape if you still have glass.

Fixed. Too bad you didn't...it was the good old days of club racing.

How is this being a dick? Anyway,if that was the case I'd be Roger Hayden #54. I used #56 because it was an old Grand Prix riders number. Shinya Nakano and also the late AMA 250GP Champ David Emde. Stop dreaming and get your butt out here. I might be able to put you up in a room for a few nights. This could save you $300-$400 bucks. Load up the bike and drink 3-4 mountain dews and drive here non stop...Ha! Ha! Anyway, I hope you can make it out someday.

I just hit the apex good and came out hard ...then up shifted and keep it steady at 7k-8k. I did a two lap sound check...1st lap wide open and 2nd lap at 8k. Wide open was 91.7 decibels...under the limit? I think the wind direction makes a difference too. If the wind is blowing a certain direction you can run the loudest pipe and you won't get the meatball flag. Get out there and give it a go...Laguna is worth it. I paid $240.00 to run 120 miles...give or take.

No air...tire is firmly on the ground. It's a shadow from the bikes silhouette. It would be cool though. I'll try next time.

Your done braking at this point, but some quick left/right counter steer at the right point of the drop down might get the tires a little light. I'm not going to try it. Ha! Ha!
