I've noticed a change of tactic. On caller ID these calls used to supposedly come from local cities like Carson CA or Malibu CA. Now they appear to originate from a person's name like Lucy Smith or Paul Gomez. Recognizing that a city name is too impersonal they're hoping on the long shot that the spoofed name might be the same as someone I actually know and I'll answer it.

I checked my cell phone the other day where I have it set to silent unless the calling number is in my address book. Turns out I had received a call from someone with my name but it didn't ring because the number was wrong.

My cell is on ATT, and I never get names in Caller ID. Never have. Not even from landlines. I just get numbers, and I assumed that's how it is. Only names I get are in my contact list.

So far in October I’ve had 15 bogus calls on att. I had 24 total in September. Hmm.

I also just turned on “silence unknown callers” on my iPhone and that’s wonderful!

Anyone else get real anxiety when your cell rings? I sure as hell do.

No anxiety here, maybe a mild irritation. The reason I have a phone is, I might want to call someone... someday. Hey, it could happen.

I certainly didn't get it so strangers could annoy me.

In my world any incoming call is likely bad news. So it’s a gut punch when it goes off.
