Yes it is. I was heartbroken when my brother passed at 58, but my mother, who is 90 now, will remain devastated by his passing until the day she joins him. There is something unique about being a parent. It is scary really, knowing I have two kids of my own out there in the world.

Such is life though - one could theoretically live protected from loss and physical danger, be provided with all they need, and be bored out of their minds and depressed. We are all like ships, made to sail on the sometimes calm, sometimes extremely rough open sea. Like a good ocean going vessel, we are not meant to sit tied up in the safety of port for our whole lives.

Hi Damascus, I do a lurk thru of this site every so often, no longer a FZ owner. I'm sorry to read about your cat. I had to put down my 19 year old cat Patches and it was like putting a knife through my heart. A good way to move on is adopt another one, give that next furry critter a chance who needs a good home. I've turned into the crazy cat man, we're at 3 cats now (and done!). It took 3 of those little beasts to replace Patches. Pets, they leave paw prints all over your heart. It helped my wife and I move on and everyday is fun with those fuzzy critters. God bless.

I stood in my neighbor/good friends front yard and watched his house burn to the ground 3 days before Christmas. His 2 daughters are 10 and 12, best friends with my girls. They lost everything, including a dog, a cat, and two rabbits. I haven't cried like that in a long time.

That's devastating. Response time in rural areas is long. People sometimes risk their own life to save pets and memories, and pay the ultimate price. At least that didn't happen here.

Fortunately they were not home at the time it started, 3 different stations responded, they ran out of water twice. They'd start to get it mostly out, then run out of water and it would get going good again by the time the tanker made it back.

Man, that is awful.

Dear Lord, I pray that you send solace to this family.

This is a fallen world in every way imaginable, and there is only one hope.
