I liked them enough, but they remind me of the Eagles.

Background music, in an era of truly revolutionary music by the likes of Lou Reed, David Bowie, Todd Rundgren, and (especially) the Talking Heads.

(They appeal to me more now that I am in the 4th Quarter.)

Man, I listened to Lou Reed on some new speakers last week. Thank God the Transformer / R & R Animal era have special life memories associated that do not pertain to quality recording techniques. Steve Hunter live and loud is still good.

Could not afford good gear back then, now I revel in the groups that laid down top shelf recordings in the 70's.

Aliens from galaxies far far away noted intelligent life when they heard this opening salvo, now they are here taking piano lessons and looking for Napoleon.

Mid 70's, teenage Liteitup subscribed to downbeat magazine and got this album as a reward for subscribing. Played it endlessly on my un-memorable turntable, Pioneer sx880,and Norman Labs 8A's. Still play it occasionally.

I hear you Boot. There is NO better than AJA on a reference stereo setup with 15” subs.

Also try some Dark Side of the Moon and a little Sade for dessert.

I had an old (Marantz?) tube amp my dad gave me and a pair of large Advent loudspeakers that played Abbey Road, Aja, The Captain and Me, and a number of Older Eagles and Elton John albums over and over.
J.Geils, Bob Seger, Billy Joel and then various Southern Rock Bands were soon to follow. Now I listen to anything except rap, progressive jazz, and heavy metal.

Ditto as to rap and heavy metal. {I don't even know what progressive jazz is so I can't tell you if I listen to it or not.)

Wife hates it when I listen to opera. (Brings back bad memories of her mother in-law.)

I was never a huge fan of Fagen's voice, but the musicians that performed on Steely Dan albums were some of the best ever. Just listen to some of the various guitar solos and the various drummers.

Paul Shaffer has a show called "Plus One", he did one with Donald Fagen. Really interesting on how Fagen came up with music/cords etc. Some of it over my head as I'm not really a musician but the discussion was fascinating.

How do you get AXS TV? It's not available on my Xfinity subscription. Apparently it is a subscription streaming service for most. Maybe Dish has it?

Eagles and Steely Dan have about as much in common as Toyota and Maserati.

My bud Roger on playing with the Dan.

Or Billy Joel and Bob Seger and Southern Rock. It was the beginning.

According to Roger it sounds like they weren't control freaks and let their fellow musicians use their personal creativity.

That's right, and why they hired the great musicians. They were beyond meticulous about everything, including choosing musicians for each part, but they didn't tell them what to play. If they were going to tell them what to play, they could have hired normal studio musicians.

Most providers consider it low rent, I have seen and learned a bunch there.

Thanks. I found that in a search. Looks like my only option, other than Dish or Directv, is a Sling account.

I wish you could just stream it.
