Shell Rotella T6 15w-40

Not trying not to start an oil thread but wanted to give a psa Walmart looks to be carrying 15-40 Rotella full synthetic. I'm switching over on my bike from yamalube after reading plenty of people using 5w-40, but was pleasantly surprised to see it in 15 weight. Some old threads claim it's a blend but this particular body is full synthetic with the JASO MA rating.

I use the 15w40 in my Malibu but the bikes get the 5w40 t6. Usually buy it at Menards.

Long time T6 5w-40 user. I would really like to try the 15w-40 T6, as I feel it would be more shear resistant in a shared sump bike, but its not available in Kanuckistan...

Great, I'll look for it. My V4 Aprilia Tuono rattles too much when hot, using the recommended 5W-40. My FZ-1 uses too much oil, and the trans. is noisy, when I used 5W-40 synthetic, in the past.

Looks like it's already gone up to $22.47/gallon. I should have ordered more!

Yeah, when I first clicked your link it was still at the cheaper price. Then I decided to search around, thinking maybe if I ordered in bulk I might get it even cheaper. Looked at everything up to 55 gallon drum, and it only got more expensive. Went back to your link an hour later and it had gone up.

Timing is everything.

Yes, I would consider getting a 55 gallon drum, as I have two bikes, a truck, two cars, and several small engines that all use this oil. I have the space now, so why not? Internal condensation will be handled by purging the airspace with Grade E breathing air, which has very, very little moisture.

Most oils for Diesel trucks don't have Friction modifier's in them, so it's safe to use them in wet clutch's. I myself like using oils made for motorcycles.

Rotella has JASO-MA/MA2 rating, so it is made for motorcycles. They wouldn't pay for the rating without an expected ROI. Fact.

Even if it didn't have that rating, knowing what I know about the product technically and empirically, I will gladly not pay exorbitant money because some marketing dweeb put a picture of a motorcycle on the label and justifies his salary by sucking money needlessly from my wallet.

Those that do not have the technical knowledge or understanding could either rely on that from others that do, or simply follow what the marketing department says they should do. Whatever makes them feel good and sleep soundly.

Actually, I really didn't sleep all that well last night. I appreciate the concern.

Also just trying to point out that all motorcycle oils don't actually have a picture of a motorcycle on the label, or have to cost twice as much to be just as good or better.

I'll go bang my head against a rock somewhere else.

I have the same experience. Maybe I’ll see you at the rock pile!
