I wouldn't have bothered to pre-order day 1 if I wasn't going to be out of the country for a few weeks beginning 9/22 and then out of town again shortly thereafter. The delivery always has to be signed for and I wanted to be sure we were around for the delivery.

Ooooo. Glad I didn't have it delivered then. Decided to pick it up at the store instead because it'll be available on Friday. Didn't realize they required a signature.

Was going get my wife 7 Plus 128GB to replace her 5s, but I was expecting it to have wireless charging. Since it does not have wireless charging, I do not see any difference between 7 and 6s, from what it matter for me and my wife point of view. If anything, removing 3.5mm jack is nothing more than cost saving for apple only. The cost for my wife's iPhone 7 would be $1k otd with taxes. That's too much for a product that has not innovated in the past 2 years.

I'll wait for I phone 8. I hear that in addition to no headphone jack, they will also eliminate the speakers, mic, and lightening port. Which is problematic as it will not have a battery either. Code name: Total Enlightenment. While some may claim it is just a piece of solid black plastic, others who understand these things will instinctively know that it is the ultimate Zen expression of the Apple experience.

I'm not sure how much more innovation is possible on "phones". Seems like everyone is now just making incremental improvements to existing platforms. Better camera. Bigger battery. Better processor etc. I wonder if and when we will see something that is a game changer again.

Must say I'm happy they got rid of the physical home button. Those things are destined to fail. I've had two iPhones where they went bad. Both phones were replaced for free, but still a pain.

Well - my wife's 2016 Chevy volt has a wireless charging slot built it - that's 1 year old car. If apple is done innovating and start taking features away - then the price should go down - but none of that to be seen. If anything, the price is going up.

If anybody wants to sell their clean paid off iPhone 6 Plus or 6S Plus 64GB or more - hit me up. Plan avoiding new iPhones until wireless charging shows up.

Moving away from wireless charging isn't just an Apple thing.

Wireless charging adds thickness and recent developments to wired charging make it far faster than most current wireless charging. -- Not my opinions. Those are the statements from Google a year ago on why they started dropping wireless charging from their phones.

At first I missed it but the rapid charging on my Nexus 5x is pretty crazy. It was fun making fun of iPhone folks at work when I had wireless charging in 2013.

And, it is not surprising wireless charging showed up in a Chevy about the time mobile was deciding to move away from it

I'm not a good prognosticator in this area but thinner and lighter... maybe we'll get to fully flexible and wearable screens. And, eventually a VR/holo HUD.

That's what I ordered. Disappointed with the November ship date. Large screen first priority (easier on older eyes) followed by improved camera.

Lack of GPS killed my desire for Apple Watch. That's been fixed now, along with ability to swim with it. Still not buying it, though. Not a huge watch person and don't want the added distraction.

Yah the wireless thing is clearly something Apple is not interested in with phones or iPads. I think the watch has it? ITs nothing I've ever thought was important to have. It's slow as molasses compared to wired. I just don't see the big advantage of it. At work my phone sits on a stand with a charger. When I hit the sack at night same thing. I just put it on a charging stand on the bed table.

I want INNOVATION! 10 second charging!

Hell, how about someone finally develop a battery tech that lasts DAYS instead of hours.

I guess you didn't order right at launch or opted for the jet black rather than matte black.

I love wireless charging on my iPhone, and bought the same Qi adapter for my work iPhone as well. I'm constantly picking up and putting down my phone, dealing with cords is a PIA, especially in the car. The adapter is about 1mm at its thickest point, and fits inside the low-profile case I use.

You can buy wireless charging cases for iPhone. I feel wireless charging is more gimmick than anything...it takes all of 2 seconds to stick the cord in or dock it. Now, if it can charge the phone by just being in the vicinity of the charger, THAT will be something. That's what Mr Tesla envisioned.

Gave in and pre-ordered 7 plus 128GB for my wife - T-mobile current promotion is pretty good right now.
Still - not getting one for myself until it has wireless charging.

To each their own - I haven't had to plug in a cable in for about a year, and totally love it. Every time I put my phone down, it's charging. No plugging/unplugging a cable. Yes, it charges slower, but as it's on charge every time it's not being carried, it makes no difference.

WARNING: many complaints of doing OTA updates to iOS 10 are bricking phones or causing a situation where they need to connect to iTunes to remedy it. Seems to be prevalent on the iPad Pros and iPhone with the A9 chip (anything after the 6). If your phone is vital to your livelihood, I'd wait to see how this pans out. Mine is in the middle of updating...fingers crossed.

For the Apple haters - STFU...at least they aren't catching fire.

Right. I was awake staring at the ceiling at 2am, too. So could have gotten up and ordered. Thought I would be fine in the morning.

I wouldn't care except that my current phone is literally becoming unglued.

Hoping they aim to underpromise and overdeliver.

When I ordered my 7 it was 10am PDT. At that time there were gloss black 7+ ones available for shipping in late September and for pick up at both Apple stores in Palo Alto this Friday.

Today it's saying pickup 9/16 or deliver late nov.

Wireless charging also causes the phone to heat up ... After being on android for 5+ years I got frustrated with the hardware issues, sluggishness, touchscreen not working, I switched to iphone. Sure, I have less features but I value reliability more these days. There have been countless moments in the past 5 years where out of frustration I felt like throwing the android phone out of the car window...
