Mom, too. She did the rearing while the dad was building the business. He knows what he's got. He deals with it and doesn't want to hear about it. I still stick to my guns, though.

I got a new m/c jacket the other day. The boss noticed and asked if I had shown it to XXX. I said that I had. He asked me what XXX's response was. So, I told him what he said "It's okay, but it's not as nice/cool/bitchin'/yellow as my jacket" The boss said "Something's never change."

Dealing with these guy's has re-introduced the word "****tard" into my volcabulary.

The dad is an enabler. I've had to listen to more top of the voice conversations about what the kid(s) have done than they have.

Been there. After about a year of it, I told the boss to either fire his idiot son or shut the **** up about it. I didn't give him the chance to fire me, I quit.

Desmo -

No. But that brings to mind another story.

We have been slow. So the vice-president (son #1) comes into my office and asks me what is my "lay-off" policy. I said "Well, since you're the v.p., it would be whatever your "lay-off" policy is." He always trys to make his problem your problem. I don't go for it. He got pissed off and said that whenever he brings up his vp-ship to his dad, his dad says "It's still my company."

The other thing they do is show up around 9 - 9:30 am. The rest of us show up at 7:30 am. If XXX shows up any earlier, he will knock off around 2:30 - 3 in the afternoon. He still showed up later than everyone else, but he leaves because he was in "early". Still notches 8 hours on the time sheet, though.

I have to physically hand him the time sheet every Friday. He thinks it's my job to walk him through it. He always leaves the weekly total amount blank. It is because numbers aren't his friend.

Sorry Silver, but the question of succession begs to be asked. What happens to the company, and more importantly you, when dad dies? Does dad have someone in mind, other than a son, to run the business should that happen? Which brings up the question of how old dad is.

I doubt that there is any plan in place. I'm sure the dad knows that the son(s) can't make it work. There is a nephew that could, but that ain't going to happen. I'm an advocate of selling the business so the boss gets something out of it. No matter what, I would lose my job. I'm paid very well for what I do. New management, no matter where it comes from would trim me quick. The sons would get rid of me cause I won't put up with the bs.

The dad would love to get out of it.

Desmo -

I hate to be this way, but it is for the $$. If I went anywhere else and did what I do (and I have checked) I would be looking at a 35 - 50% pay cut. I don't put up with any crap off of the kids and I call a spade a spade for the most part.

And where else am I going to get stories like these? Oh yeah, my job before this one, the job before that one, the job before that one.....

Silver03,

Keep the stories coming!

It's threads like this that make this the most interesting website out there.

If you get a picture of junior with his scooter beanie astride his mighty RR, we will take up a collection in your honor

I know a guy who has a hugely successful construction business that he started from scratch. He employed his son for years, with the intent on having him take it over some day. Of course, son was spoiled and incompetent, to the point that the business apparently was becoming significantly impacted. Daddy fired his son! Of course, sonny is being subsidized, but at least he is not bringing the business down.

This is a great story Silver, I have been there, done that.
I hope you are properly compensated for your skills, and get a bonus for your patience.

So....we don't have to worry about XXX having web access and reading this ?

I think I saw this guys twin brother on my way to work the other morning. Same bike, CBR1000RR, still had the temporary plate on it.

Different get up though, instead of the rodeo clown look, this guy had on his fast food uniform, must have been heading to work also, McDonalds I believe. No helmet, no jacket, nothing in the way of safety gear.

Guy must have been in his late 30's early 40's. He was cruising pretty slow, not because he was trolling for chicks, although I think that in his mind he was, but rather because he was afraid of the bike.

Too bad it was 6:30 AM, no hotties on the road at that time. The whole scene was like, "yeah, I'm 40 years old, trolling for chicks and still live with my mom."

I had to turn off at the next intersection so that he wouldn't see me laughing!
