I can't even imagine.. But that's a neat trick with the water. I'd try it but here in DC it's the exact opposite. The humidity certainly won't dry you..

One big thing when riding in the heat is drink a lot of water. Dehydration sneaks up on you. And take more breaks on long rides. Hop in the gas station air conditioning for a few minutes. It seems I fail to follow this advice on my first hot ride of the year and pay the price.

I just sold one of my bikes to a first time street rider and couldn't stress this enough. Gear up ALL THE TIME! If you're buying a bike, but can't see fit to make the investment to protect yourself, don't ride. Reevaluate your priorities.

One other thing that bothers me: guys that put girls on the back of their bikes unprotected. Nothing says "I really couldn't care any less about you" than letting her wear flip flops and short shorts on the back of your motorcycle. When the guy is wearing the same thing, I chalk it up to ignorance; but when the dude is in full out and out race gear he obviously knows better.

Yep! I gotta agree. Too many people try to look all badass in their lack of gear and everything... then they eat it and get that roda rash. Theres nothing cool about getting the pebbles scrubbed out of you.
Theres no excuse for no gear too!
it's not even expensive either, some decent gear can be found on ebay or even on here. I have the leather jacket and its held up great before i upgraded to my big AS. http://www.motorcyclehouse.com/motorcycle-jackets.htm
