I love the Speed and Strength jackets, they have held up well for me and they run true to size unlike many other brands which seem to be sized for skinny asian guys.

My son has two of the helmets you are looking at and really likes them.

Thanks for the input. the amount of features on that helmets seems incredible for the price point. there arent a whole lot of reviews on speed and strength as a whole. it doesnt seem like a brand that is well known or something.

on the icon note - i have an icon contra jacket. its my first motorcycle jacket and i really like it.

For the price point, they're very competitive and worht it. It's a well known brand. It directly competes with Icon and companies like Bell.

I would purchase helmets and jackets from them without hestations. http://www.motorcyclehouse.com/speed...th-helmets.htm
They have a good selection of newer style helmets that aren't plain and boring like Bell.

I have had a s&s ss1000 helmet for a few years. It is finally due for replacement, but I have tried bunch of other helmets at all price points and can'r find anything I like as much. So
I just ordered a discontinued closeout ss1000..

Not sure what I am going to do in a few years when I need another helmet.

I have a SS jacket, and really like it. It fits well, has decent armor, had held up well for the last few years and didn't break the bank to buy. I like to change up my gear every few years, so I normally don't buy the ultra expensive stuff. Besides, high $$$ doesn't always equate to better protection. One of the British motorcycle mags did some tests on suits a while ago and found that the more expensive suits from Dainese, Alpinestars, and others didn't hold up as well as suits that cost half of those.

And you can't always go by what the pros wear either. If you think the Alpinestars suit you but is the exact same suit as Lorenzo's you're mistaken. His suit is completely custom from the ground up, including the armor, how it's stitched together, where the vents and stretch panels are, etc. The Science Channel had a neat clip on how both production and custom suits are made. They were at the Alpinestars factory for the custom suits, and showed clips of the "official Alpinestars assembly factory", but did not disclose it's location. From the looks of it, there were suits from multiple manufactures all being assembled under the same roof.

At that price point take a look at HJC CL-17.

Webbikeworld does some honest reviews and they love it.

Thanks for showing me this! There is a ton of good options and i like that someone has actually reviewed it. It bothers me that i cant find any solid reviews of speed and strength stuff by a reputable reviewer.

and the price is better anyways. which makes it even better!

Has anyone crash tested this brand? For me, that's the seal of approval.

I looked at an S&S jacket with the black hoodie at Cycle Gear recently. It was nice and warm and had zipper vents on it but the "CE protection" was sub par @ best. It was very thin and I don't think the armor was removable so the jacket could be washed. I have a Cortec Jacket and a Tour Master jacket which are pretty much the same brand and they have much better quality armor. It is also removable and they have multiple layers for all weather conditions. IMO, it would be better to get a tried and tested brand.

I bought some S&S gear last year because it had great features for the money. Got an SS1300 helmet. It fit better than pretty much any other helmet I tried on and was competitively priced. I've got one of their jackets, a pair of gloves, and a pair of boots. All have exceeded my expectations, especially considering the price.
