Camshafts installed, cap bolts snugged but not torqued yet. Initial intake cam installation was slightly off, so I corrected...

Corrected by temporarily installing cam sprocket and using long needle nose to turn cam.

I got the caps firmly seated, I will go through and torque it all to spec and do a final clearance check. I just need time to get out there. Someone always seems to need my time more than me.

Everything torqued down. Here is the final spread sheet. I'm very happy with how close it all came out. The farthest one out from the projected clearance was 2-1. It came out .03 more than projected, but well within spec.
Now to button it all back up and get those sweet ass Rizoma handle bars from PJ installed and get this baby back on the road. I haven't even tested out my new suspension yet!

I did not take clearance reading with the caps un-torqued. I torqued them to spec and took the final measurements afterwards. No, have not started yet.

I would assume torque specs in manual are correct. Although there are a few places where I do not torque to spec. The rear axle nut is one classic example. Use common sense. But I torqued all cap bolts, camshaft sprocket bolts and advancer wheel bolt to spec with out issue.
Personally, I would rate this job a 6, maybe 7 tops. But that's me. I've always been handy with a wrench and I've been doing this for a while. Read all proceedures thoroughly before diving in. Make sure you know what goes where. Also, taking pictures along the way will help greatly. Sometimes the factory service manual can be vague. For instance, with installation of the cam sprockets, you will only be able to get one bolt in on each sprocket before you have to rotate the crank to get the other side in, but you have to make sure you install the cam chain tensioner before you do otherwise your timing chain will skip teeth. That is why I torqued all bolts after the rotating assembly was together. Take you time and work slowly and methodically. This way you don't rush and do something silly like drop a shim into somewhere inaccessible. If in doubt, ask lots of questions. That is why we are here.
