IBR is every other year, odd years, so yeah, 2019 will have a run.

Ron, I did a SS1000 a few years ago, just to see what the hype was about. Basically a run from Atlanta to Daytona, stopped to see fam in south Ga, rode the Mayport ferry into Jacksonville, then ended up riding the Atlanta/285 loop to finish right at 1100 miles. If memory serves, it took right at 22 hours. Started at 3-ish AM, done about 1AM.

I'll do it again, but will not start at that wacky hour. I didn't get enough sleep prior, and that impacted my ride. Had to stop at a Hardees in the afternoon and crash for about 45 minutes. Being tired took some fun out of what was otherwise a fun ride. A friend rode along on his dads Honda Shadow. That was cool, but next time I'll fly solo.

Will be interesting to see what your range extends, and how it works with needed stops and any handling impacts.

John,
Thanks for the info. Here's the trip I am currently considering: I have relatives in Northeast Louisiana, a distance of 500 miles for me. I'm thinking my trip will get me on the road around 0430. Arrive with relatives for lunch. Hang out for a spell and get back on the road early/mid-afternoon. Get home by midnight. If I average 70mph that's 14 hours on the road. Add fuel, chow and rest stops and I think the trip is easily doable in 18-20 hours. I don't know if I will want to stay on the bike for over 300 miles a pull but I do think I can save at least one, if not 2 fuel stops which may save me some time.

I'm expecting little to no handling impact. None have been reported from the two previous riders who did the mod and 1.5 gallons weighs less than 10 lbs. Considering most of that 10 lbs will be burned off within and hour of fill up, I don't see it being an issue.

Best,
Ron

Thanks for that but Hot Rod Johnnie gets all the credit. The hard part is on me to carve out the time to use all of that range

Update from earlier in the week. Tank is on second round of primer. Last of pinholes being filled and sanded this week. Expect paint any day.

Best,
Ron
