Yes, but what I noticed was that hooligan998 was answering a question asked 8 years ago.

So, in 2026 I should get a reply to this post?

For me, the peace of mind is keeping it rust free, properly adjusted, and measuring the wear along several sections. The numbers don't lie. I swapped out the OEM too early at 39k, as I thought the chain/sprockets were causing some vibes. They were not. Maybe I'm just too light on the throttle.....

I think I'm pretty good at maintaining the chain - I try to clean (and I mean CLEAN) it every 700 miles (unless ridden in the rain) and apply a good chain wax. Some links start to get a little sticky, usually around 20k miles. It could probably be used well beyond the 20k mark, but it gets a bit noisy. When I got my FZ it appeared to me to have the stock chain (!!!) which the dealer confirmed when it was changed. That thing was VERY noisy with lots of very sticky links. At some point this has to become dangerous? I tried to adjust the original chain but at the tightest point it had about 1/2" deflection and at the loosest it had enough slop to be pushed up against the swingarm.
