Brrr. But surrounded by green stuff on google maps!

I think the closest I've been there is Lansing, driving to Toronto, or Sault St Marie driving to Quebec. Pretty country.

Love the Michigan west coast! In my teenage years, used to frequent Warren Dunes & spent lots of summer weekends on the family sailboat docked in Saugatuck.

I went out over the weekend, camera in hand, also in search of 'things with wings'. What I found were not covered with feathers, but fabric & metal.

Pioneer Flight Museum is about 50 miles NE of San Antonio, on whats called the old Kingsbury Aerodrome. The operating staff are volunteers who are deeply into the operational preservation of vintage aircraft and motor vehicles. Many of these flying machines are not static displays, but are either in restoration, recreation or airworthy aircraft. Twice a year they hold a 'Fly-In' event and the aerodrome literally hums with the activity of both museum-based and area aircraft of all types (that can takeoff and land on a grass field, of course).

Thomas-Morse S4C Scout (the first American fighter)

Stearman PT-17 trainers

Fokker Dr-1 triplane - (a lot of the volunteers were in period dress and even camped out overnight using old canvas tents and other period gear)

Renault FT tank 1917 (mock up -tracks and other components made of wood - still looks cool!)

Misc (not sure of aircraft type)

Every 3rd Saturday each month we do a bird walk at a local Western history museum:

https://thebrintonmuseum.org/

Followed by a feeder watch up a couple hundred more feet in elevation.

Did I mention eagles winter here?

Black-billed Magpie

Evening Grosbeak

Gray-crowned Rosy Finch (Hepburn's subspecies - note the full gray hood)

Mountain Chickadee

Now THIS is a Pine Grosbeak

I know this one doesn't look all that exciting, but they are pretty unusual for Wyoming. Rusty Blackbird

Meanwhile, Wild America in Wyoming again...

When the branches you land on aren't as sturdy as you thought....Red-tailed Hawk

Another Pine Grosbeak with a little snow...right...there

Saw a mink today. This is the 3rd (or 4th) time I've seen one around the neighborhood. They are pretty gregarious and will often investigate you as well. This one was helpful in doing so, allowing me to take a couple of glamor shots.

But he was in and out of the river in a flash several times, and about when I would get set for a shot, he'd plop in again.

Ice ice baby.

Today it was 20, feels like 4 said What the Forecast. Went for about a half hour walk when the sun started to poke out. We had blizzard conditions and most of the interstates are shut down across Wyoming. It's a dry snow, though, and the wind was just blowing it in from Montana.

As my dad used to say, nothing between here and Montana but a barbed wire fence.

My annual selfie

A flock of about 130+ Bohemian Waxwings. I was trying to enhance it to confirm my ID, and liked the effect.

View out the back door....

I'm tough. I can take it.

Got eagles? They winter here.

This golden tried either snatch what we think was a fox or maybe prey the fox had. Hard to say, as it all played out just over a bit of a rise with some trees in the way, but seeing the long fuzzy tail and the diving eagle was almost really exciting for everyone for about 3 seconds.

Happy Turkey Day turkeys! Hope you had a great one.
