It is amazing what they charge for small bits of steel tubing and some molded plastic. I was very fortunate to happen upon a brand new, complete SW Motech/Givi setup, here on the forum. Less than half price, still had the film over the logos. Also bought another set of larger Givi boxes off CL for cheap, a 52l top and 41l sides. I've run that and it is a crap ton of storage.

That said, I would pay what was necessary to duplicate this if something happens to this setup.

I appreciate the updated info. I was a fairly active member in 2006 then went overseas for 9 plus years and the bike went into storage. Currently the bike is apart and getting some TLC and then I will be driving it cross country so trying to find soft luggage that works.

It's unfortunate, after reading through this thread I went onto the SW Motech site only to be disappointed...

I put in the information for my 2005 FZ1 and it's comes up with products stated to fit "2005-2016"... I can't even keep track of how many websites have the wrong information listed. So annoying.

Good to see you're back stateside and getting the old girl fixed up csamto. I'm just running a Nelson Rigg Commuter Touring tail bag. It expands tall enough to hold a spare helmet or just keep it low like I normally do for extra layers, drinks, etc. Works great but sooner or later I'll find an actual luggage rack that doesn't break the bank. Hopefully...

Good luck to you.

Thumbs up

@csamto

Enjoy the Motofizz medium tail bag, and the Nelson-Rigg saddlebags on your epic trip. They served me well over the years, and thousands of miles. Happy that they went to a good home.
