Cheap GPS trackers do they really work?

I am thinking of getting GPS trackers for my bikes & car, I see ones that are ~$17.00 on ebay, did anyone uses these trackers? any feedback?
I am looking at this one

I read the info and can not determine how you get the current location if someone else is driving your car?

it uses a SIM card you buy for around $30.00, it texts you the location with google maps

Be careful, there are 2 types,

One relies on bluetooth and other users with the app installed on their phone and bluetooth turned on to be within a certain distance to be able to locate the device. These are OK in heavily populated areas, but not so good outside of that.

The other has a GPS inbuilt and uses a sim card to send the information to a server that you can log into and track your bike (I have one of these) they are the best ones and you can look back over several days from anywhere and see where your bike has been.

WORD OF WARNING - with many Telcos turning off the old networks (i.e. 2G) the trackers on these networks have dropped in price as you are then locked into one of the Telcos that may still run these networks. Check the network before you buy it and make sure it is still up and running in your area.

You definitely get what you pay for with these.

I have this one, it is expensive, works perfectly, and I get a discount on my insurance with it too.
