It's a money line on the Nats to win the game. Pays $139 on a $100 bet.

That doesn't seem very good. What are the odds on an Astro's win?

Ahhhh. Ok.

Still to much to risk for me. Where can I find a bet that’s like bet $10 and win $100 ?!?

Just curious, is this done online at some off shore location?

Ok I get it now, that is reasonable. I thought you would win $39. That would mean the Nats are overwhelming favourites.

This is why I like 1/2 point parley betting in football. $10 bet will win you $100 plus your bet back on picking 4 correct game outcomes. Either bet the point spread or over/under. Sometimes I'll bet 5 on 4 picks and another 5 on 4 other picks. If I had enough nerve to play 7 picks on $10, I could win $740 plus my bet back. But I have enough trouble winning $55. You'd have to get incredibly lucky to get 12 right and get 2500 to 1.
Sometimes when States allow you to bet online, you need to bet from a state where it is legal, no vpn's, no States without online betting.

It is for me at the moment. In some states it wouldn't be.

As for 10 to 1 odds there are plenty of risky plays out there. I put $10 on the Ohio State starting running back to win the Heisman awhile back. $1200 profit if it hits.

I hope it goes to a game 7 in Houston. That would be fun.

Consulted Karma last night after the game.

Owing to a certain incident that got the Houston assistant GM fired, she says (and I quote), "The Astros are 'going down' [clearly a play on the obvious sexual reference/connotation] in seven."

We need to talk about the 800 Pound Gorilla in the Room (actually, behind the PLATE!)

OK folks, here is a subject almost as volatile as wearing a MAGA hat to Yoga class. To wit: Has the time come to replace the home plate umpire with a robot ball and strike machine?

Ump last night blew MANY ball and strike calls. It's all over the news. They have the pitch tracker replays and it looks like my blind buddy Steve could have done a better job just going by sound (which is how he is still able to wrench on cars effectively, btw).

A home plate umpire will still be necessary for all of the other functions (batter/catcher interference, out/safe calls, etc). But I say we relieve the Fat Man of his duty to call balls and strikes and turn it to over to Apple, or Microsoft, or the Chinese Military hackers who occasionally show up here.

I realize this is controversial, but I think we can anticipate (and enjoy) a highly spirited discussion. After all, we are all friends here.

So let me say, in advance of any replies that disagree,

GO FLOCK YOURSELF !!!

That is a great thing about baseball though. You have to be good over the long haul - not a one game championship like the Super Bowl. The Nats apparently have enough of the good stuff over all of these play off games to get to this point, and now they have to keep it going for at least 2 more games.
Astros roaring back. Got to love Baseball. Back to Houston, and 1 game away.

Either way, glad this wasn't a 4 games to 0 blow out.

Odd post season though. Seems like a team is hot, or forgets how to play with not a lot in between. Not sure why??

Replace home plate up with a cyborg. Argue a call? You get disintegrated with his phaser.

Or.... have a system to track the ball and make the strike / ball call, send the signal to an ear piece the ump wears and make it look like he is making the call - even though all know he's not. Keeps up the appearance of "tradition". If ump still makes a bad call have it send a mild / painful shock to the ump (little bit of operant conditioning).

I've watched 3 of the games so far and the ball/strike calls have been terrible, mainly because of the inconsistency of the strike zone.

If you make it error free and perfect it won't be baseball. Nothing to argue or discuss, have a nice slice of soggy white bread.

The home field advantage opinion I hold is only 100% wrong. All bets are off.

Woops. It looks like there is an alternative explanation, at least for last night's awful ball and strike calling. It now appears there were female body parts on the loose in the vicinity of home plate.

MLB bans women who flashed their chests behind home plate during Game 5 of World Series

I apologize to any heavy set umpires who took offense to my previous, body shaming, ill informed post.

Ya know, just when something happens to make baseball a little more exciting, the establishment jumps in and ruins everything!
