New guy first yahama 07fz1

Just bought my 07 fz1 had a katana 750 before so I know nothing about my new bike
What's differance between gen1 &2

Congrats on the new '07. They have gotten such great reviews, seems like a very smart bang for the buck new bike purchase.

As far as the difference between FZ1 generations, the Gen 1 uses the original R1 motor, tube frame and carbs, while the Gen II uses an 04-06 R1 engine, aluminum box frame and FI.

Which bike is "better" is a subject of endless and usually hilarious debate and fun making for the members of this forum. The Gen II is unquestionably a more modern design than the Gen I, but the Gen I really is one of the best all around sporty/standard just get on it and ride street bikes ever made. The Gen II tilts a little more toward sport, while the Gen I is happy to occupy that super standard bike sweet spot that many find so appealing. It would be cool to own both!
